The MLB season marches on. The teams have begun to show us what they have to offer, but there\u2019s still a long way to go in a season that\u2019s a marathon, not a sprint. With that said, it\u2019s these opinions we formulate that will decide whether this season will be a profitable one for us or not. <\/p>\n
Here are the power rankings entering the 13th week of the MLB schedule.<\/p>\n
1. Oakland Athletics (47-29)<\/strong><\/p>\n Everything\u2019s working for the Athletics at the moment. It\u2019s no surprise to see the team with the kind of pitching depth they have given the ballpark they play in, but the team\u2019s offense has been potent, and is arguably one of the toughest in baseball at the moment. Josh Donaldson\u2019s proven that he\u2019s for real.<\/p>\n 2. Milwaukee Brewers (47-30)<\/strong><\/p>\n Moving Carlos Gomez into the cleanup spot is something that probably should have happened a while ago given the immediate success he\u2019s had there. Jonathan Lucroy is making his case as the best hitting catcher in baseball. The team\u2019s starting rotation is so deep it\u2019s giving the team a chance to win every time out.<\/p>\n 3. Los Angeles Dodgers (42-35)<\/strong><\/p>\n It\u2019s amazing what a healthy Clayton Kershaw can do for an organization. The southpaw\u2019s perfecto came as a much-needed breath of fresh air into the team. Injuries continue to be a problem, though. Hanley Ramirez is back in the lineup after a bit of a scare, though Yasiel Puig has had to be removed from the lineup multiple times in the past couple weeks with various ailments.<\/p>\n 4. San Francisco Giants (45-30)<\/strong><\/p>\n The Giants have hit a major road bump and it\u2019s how they respond in the coming weeks that could determine whether they remain in contention for the N.L. West crown or whether they have to fight for a Wild Card spot. It sounds as if Angel Pagan is headed for the disabled list which is a major blow to a team that needs all the offense it can get.<\/p>\n 5. Los Angeles Angels (41-33)<\/strong><\/p>\n Mike Trout\u2019s reminded the world that he\u2019s Mike Trout. The return of Josh Hamilton to the lineup could have killed the team\u2019s chemistry the way it did a year ago, but they\u2019ve just continued raking. Albert Pujols missed a couple games over the weekend but he suited up Sunday and seems fine. Garrett Richards belongs in the All Star game.<\/p>\n 6. Toronto Blue Jays (42-35)<\/strong><\/p>\n It\u2019s been a while since the Blue Jays have been able to win a series, but returning home should cure some of what ails them. The team begins the week with a set against the New York Yankees, with their sights set on repaying the sweep the Yankees handed down a week ago. Edwin Encarnacion continues to tear the cover off the ball, and he\u2019ll need to keep up his torrid pace with Brett Lawrie and Jose Bautista suffering injuries in Sunday\u2019s loss in Cincinnati.<\/p>\n 7. Detroit Tigers (40-32)<\/strong><\/p>\n They\u2019ve let the Kansas City Royals hang around which is a big mistake, but the Tigers have to figure things out at some point, don\u2019t they? Victor Martinez doesn\u2019t want to hear any talk about regression because he just keeps pounding out home runs. The team\u2019s front end starters need to figure things out. Just as Adam Wainwright makes his return to the starting rotation, Michael Wacha will make his way to the disabled list. The team\u2019s offense has come around, and Matt Holliday is starting to drive the ball again.<\/p>\n 9. Washington Nationals (39-35)<\/strong><\/p>\n The Nationals have done a good job of hanging around and are now starting to get healthy. Bryce Harper has a long rehab stint ahead of him, but at least he\u2019ll be playing games again. Gio Gonzalez returning to the rotation will help solidify things in that department.<\/p>\n 10. Kansas City Royals (39-36)<\/strong><\/p>\n The Royals reeled off a double-digit winning streak to climb to the top of the A.L. Central. They\u2019ve actually been hitting the ball of late, with Alex Gordon playing a major role in generating runs, while Billy Butler looks to have put his early season funk behind him.<\/p>\n 11.
