It won\u2019t be hard to figure out who the main draw in this outing will be. Masahiro Tanaka has come just as advertised to the Yankees, who paid a hefty premium to get the Japanese star in pinstripes. Tanaka has dominated MLB hitters through his first 13 starts.<\/p>\n
Tanaka\u2019s last start yielded his second complete game victory of the season. In it, he limited the Seattle Mariners to two runs and six hits, striking out 11 and walking only one batter, needing 110 pitches to accomplish the feat.<\/p>\n

Interestingly enough, Tanaka\u2019s first career start came against these very Blue Jays, though it didn\u2019t go so well. He would come away with the win, but Tanaka surrendered three runs in seven innings of work, including a home run in the first inning, then another two runs in the second before settling down from there.

\nThe Blue Jays counter with Marcus Stroman. A highly touted prospect, Stroman\u2019s base numbers don\u2019t tell the whole story. The 23-year-old compiled a 12.79 ERA and 2.21 WHIP as a reliever before being moved to the starting rotation, where he\u2019s gone 2-1 with a 2.50 ERA and 1.28 WHIP through his first three starts.<\/p>\nStroman looks to bounce back from his first loss of the season which came in his last outing against the Minnesota Twins. In that start, he surrendered three runs on nine hits, striking out four batters in six innings of work.<\/p>\n
The Blue Jays have actually struggled to score runs of late after absolutely tearing the cover off the baseball in the month of May. The team has scored just 2.3 runs per game over their last 10 contests, with the under going 9-0-1 in those contests.<\/p>\n
Facing Tanaka isn\u2019t likely going to help them turn things around. With that said, Stroman has held his own since joining the Blue Jays\u2019 starting rotation. He\u2019s a good prospect with a strong pedigree who won\u2019t shy away from the bright lights at Yankee Stadium.<\/p>\n
