The Yanks gave up just 2 runs in each of their games against a hot Seattle club. They will need to continue that kind of performance if they are going to keep winning against AL leading Oakland.<\/p>\n
The Yankees have been searching for answers for their rotation and it is clear David Phelps isn\u2019t one of them – though they keep running him out there. He has given up 13ER over his last two starts and this Yankee club is not the offensive juggernaut we are used to seeing.<\/p>\n
He has yet to win a game on the road with an ERA of over 5.

\nThere are just not going to be many spots where you can justify backing him.<\/p>\nNew York is 1-6 when he starts.<\/p>\n
Oakland<\/strong><\/h3>\n
The numbers don\u2019t lie when it comes to Oakland. They are the top scoring team in the Majors at just over 5 runs per game while also posting the best ERA and WHIP of any team in the league.<\/p>\n
They avoided the sweep down in L.A. against the Angels and will be looking to continue their winning ways against New York – they had won 5 in a row before dropping the closing game of their series last week.<\/p>\n
No matter the situation or the environment Oakland just seems to find a way to get it done.<\/p>\n
Sonny Gray has quickly become the leader of the Oakland staff in just his first full season. he may not look like much on the mound at just 5\u201911\u201d but he can bring it and as we saw in the playoffs nothing seems to rattle him. Gray missed the Yankees in their previous series so this will be the first time they will be seeing him.<\/p>\n
Though his numbers say he is sharper on the road I think the Yankees will be duly impressed.<\/p>\n
As good as the Yankees looked up in Seattle I have no confidence in Phelps\u2019s ability to keep the good times rolling. Gray is becoming a bonafide ace but so there is no surprise that the value has been sucked out of this one.<\/p>\n
Even the total is not super appealing so this might be one to take a pass on.<\/p>\n
