While it may have taken longer than expected, six-time Sprint Cup Champion Jimmie Johnson finally claimed his first checkered flag this season in a point race with a victory last Sunday night in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte.
\nOnce again, Kevin Harvick remained in the thick of things with a second-place finish while Matt Kenseth ended-up third.<\/p>\nThe following is a look at my top favorite, contender and longshot to win this Sunday\u2019s race based on odds provided by Bovada<\/a>.<\/p>\n
The Favorite (odd of less than 10\/1)<\/h3>\n
You could probably plug Jimmie Johnson\u2019s<\/strong> name into this category every week if you wanted to, but for this Sunday\u2019s race he is the overwhelming favorite to win at +350. The next driver on the list at double these odds is Kyle Busch at +700. <\/p>\n
Last week\u2019s victory at Charlotte could have something to do with the No. 48 car being so highly favored after a couple of near-misses earlier in the season. <\/p>\n
The main reason for Johnson\u2019s lofty odds is a complete dominance at the Monster Mile over the course of his Sprint Cup career. He has won five times in his last 10 trips around this track in a point race and his average finishing position at Dover is 8.7.

Joey Logano<\/strong> just turned 24 years old this week, but he has been racing full time in the Sprint Cup series for six years. <\/p>\n
After posting three previous point-race victories heading into the 2014 season, he has been opened at +1000 to triple that total on Sunday afternoon with his third win of this season. <\/p>\n
The No. 22 car has already taken the checkered flag at Texas and Richmond this year to become just one of two drivers with multiple victories in a point race. <\/p>\n
Logano has never won at this track in 10 previous Sprint Cup races, but he did finish seventh in last year\u2019s race and third in the fall race at Dover in 2013.<\/p>\n
The Longshot (odds 20\/1 or greater)<\/h3>\n
Sometimes the best betting strategy when looking for a longshot is to take the best driver on the board at these longer odds. Denny Hamlin<\/strong> has been one of the best Sprint Cup drivers in the series over the past several years, but he has fallen from the spotlight in his last two seasons. <\/p>\n
The No. 11 car has been listed at +2000 to win on Sunday after back-to-back finishes outside the top 15 in its last two point races. Keep in mind that this current slide followed a stunning victory at Talladega in early May. <\/p>\n
Hamlin is probably not a big fan of the Monster Mile with an average finishing position of 20.5 over the course of his Sprint Cup career, but that is also a big part of the reason that he is a longshot for this race.<\/p>\n
