The Rangers took Game 1 in convincing fashion on Saturday, and now look to take both games from the Canadiens at the Bell Centre before heading back to the friendly confines of Madison Square Garden.<\/p>\n
Saturday\u2019s Game 1 victory was an emotional one for the Rangers. The sudden death of Martin St. Louis\u2019s mother hit both he and the team hard, and Saturday had been the initial date scheduled for his mother\u2019s funeral. Instead, the date was pushed back to Sunday, and the team did attend the funeral on their off day.<\/p>\n

St. Louis and the Rangers were able to overcome their emotions in Game 1 to put together a thorough drubbing of the Canadiens, coming away with a 7-2 victory. The story entering the game had been the matchup between the pipes, with a pair of all-world goaltenders squaring off, but only one goaltender put together a game worthy of earning the W.

\nHenrik Lundqvist exorcised some demons in the Bell Centre, stopping 20 of 22 shots to pick up a victory in a building he historically hasn\u2019t fared well in. Whether it be the legends that have suited up for the Canadiens, or just the venue itself, Lundqvist hasn\u2019t fared well in Montreal, but Saturday\u2019s game could serve as a turning point for him.<\/p>\nAt the other end of the ice, Carey Price had a very forgettable performance. He let four of 20 shots get past him, and he was pulled before the start of the third period, replaced by Peter Budaj, who himself allowed goals on five of the eight shots he faced. One of those goals came from Rangers star forward Rick Nash, who netted his first of the postseason.<\/p>\n
The Rangers entered this series looking like the more complete team, and nothing that happened in Game 1 would lend one to think otherwise. The Rangers have a prime opportunity to put their foot on the throats of the Canadiens, and getting them at an underdog price only makes this play even more attractive.<\/p>\n
Additionally, the health of Price and the fact that Lundqvist hasn\u2019t fared well in this building, combined with the nine-goal opener, lead one to believe there might be some goals in this one. The Ranger offense has begun to show some life, and the Canadiens will be desperate to bounce back and gets some pucks past Lundqvist.<\/p>\n
The Rangers are 4-0 in their last four games overall, and 4-1 in their last four road games.<\/p>\n
The over is 2-0-2 in the Rangers\u2019 last four conference finals games, and 7-3-2 in the Canadiens\u2019 last 12 games overall.<\/p>\n
