Luck threw for a career-high 443 yards and four scores in the contest, while wide receiver T.Y. Hilton had his coming out party, bringing in 13 balls for 224 yards and a pair of touchdowns. All eyes will be on that duo once again as Hilton has been Luck’s go-to guy ever since Reggie Wayne went down. It wouldn’t be surprising to see New England’s top cornerback, Aqib Talib, draw that assignment, even if Hilton may be a little too speedy for Talib to keep up.
[soliloquy id=”82219″]
The Indianapolis defense lives to play another week but they shouldn’t be walking away happy with their performance. The unit had been playing well, giving up a total of 20 points in their final three regular season games, but Kansas City was allowed to do whatever they wanted, despite losing top back and MVP candidate Jamaal Charles for most of the game, and losing backup running back Knile Davis in the second half. In total, the unit surrendered a whopping 513 yards of offense to the Chiefs.

As for New England, they fought hard during the regular season to get this game at Gillette Stadium where they are 8-0 on the year. The absence of players like Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez from last year’s squad have made the team far less dynamic offensively, but the team had relied on an effective passing attack and a solid run game to get the job done week in and week out. With a slew of injuries on the defensive side of the ball, they’ll need to put up some points in this one if they’re going to outlast a good Colts team.

Past records between these clubs can go right out the window with Peyton Manning no longer in town. The Patriots aren’t the Patriots of old with some high end talent out of this game, and so building up a margin won’t be an easy thing to do. While an outright win seems unlikely, the Colts proved last weekend that they’re going to play gun to gun, which means there is tremendous backdoor cover potential.

The Colts are 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall.

Take Indianapolis +7.5

Colts vs Pats NFL Playoffs Handicapping The Indianapolis Colts will make the trip over to Foxborough for the Divisional Playoffs where they’ll take on the host New England Patriots.
