2013 Big 12 Betting Futures<\/h2>\n

College basketball season is just around the corner. Team media days have come and gone and practices are now in full swing. The first games of the season come on November 8. <\/p>\n

Included by each team name are odds to win the Big 12 from BetOnline<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Preseason Coaches Poll<\/strong><\/a> (Link)<\/p>\n

CappersPicks is going to give you a look at power rankings in many different conferences. Kansas is the clear favorite this year in the Big 12. <\/p>\n

Let\u2019s take a look at the whole conference.<\/p>\n

1. Kansas (-125)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Heard of Andrew Wiggins? If you haven\u2019t already, you\u2019ll definitely hear plenty about him during the season this year. He\u2019s clearly only going to be in Lawrence for one year, but it should be a special season. The problem for competitors is that it isn\u2019t just Wiggins. The Jayhawks freshman class includes Joel Embiid and Wayne Selden as well. Look for Embiid to be one of the best centers in the country right away.<\/p>\n

2. Oklahoma State (+250)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Marcus Smart absolutely stunned the college basketball world by staying in school for another year. Smart would have been a top five NBA draft choice. He\u2019s clearly the best point guard in the country, and having an elite point guard makes any team tough to stop. <\/p>\n

Le\u2019Bryan Nash and Markel Brown are also top-notch options for the Cowboys. Oklahoma State\u2019s quickness is unrivaled in this conference, and they should be tremendous defensively.<\/p>\n

3. Baylor (+500)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Baylor just missed the NCAA Tournament last year, and that was definitely a disappointment. The Bears got great news when Isaiah Austin and Corey Jefferson both returned for this season. Look for the 7\u20191 Austin to make a huge leap in terms of production this year, and his defense changes the game in a big way. Pierre Jackson is gone, which will hurt the team quite a bit. If they can get good enough guard play, the Bears will be a top 20 team.<\/p>\n

4. Iowa State (+800)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fred Hoiberg (The Mayor) has done a great job in Ames with the Cyclones. Hoiberg has been building his program around transfers, and that continues this year. DeAndre Kane transferred over from Marshall, and he is an elite scorer who will likely average 18 points per game or more right away. Melvin Ejim and George Niang are top-notch big men for the Cyclones.<\/p>\n

5. Kansas State (+1200)<\/strong><\/p>\n

There\u2019s a big drop off between the top four in the Big 12 and the fifth spot. Bruce Weber\u2019s team goes here in my power rankings, but it could easily be any one of the next four teams on the list. The Wildcats have a ton of question marks, but I believe they have the talent to be competitive with good teams by the end of the year.

\n6. West Virginia (+1000)<\/strong><\/p>\n

West Virginia\u2019s team will look a whole lot different than it did last year. Bob Huggins\u2019 team wasn\u2019t any good last year, and it remains to be seen if they\u2019ll be better this season. Huggins has gone the Juco route to try to assemble talent this season.<\/p>\n

7. Texas (+2000)<\/strong><\/p>\n

I can\u2019t remember a Texas basketball team coming into the season with as little talent on the roster as this year\u2019s team. The Longhorns fans aren\u2019t likely to be happy with this season. Rick Barnes is on the hot seat.<\/p>\n

8. Oklahoma (+1000)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lon Kruger has done a really good job with the Sooners, but they lost a ton of talent from last year. I think it\u2019s very likely that this team drops quite a bit in the standings.<\/p>\n

9. \u00a0Texas Tech (+5000)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Tubby Smith is taking on a massive challenge at Texas Tech. This is the team\u2019s fourth coach in four years.<\/p>\n

10. TCU (+5000)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Trent Johnson\u2019s team will be fighting to get out of the cellar, but there isn\u2019t any reason for me to pick them to be better this year. The Horned Frogs have the least talent in the conference.<\/p>\n
