Unfortunately for the fans in Corvallis, Ore., they have a team that has started slowly compared to the 6-0 start in 2012. Utah will look to take advantage of that, as it\u2019s played extremely well up to this point.<\/p>\n The Oregon State Beavers haven\u2019t fully recovered\u00a0 from their disturbing loss to the FCS\u2019s Eastern Washington, but they\u00a0 took a step in the right direction with a 33-14 win over the Hawaii\u00a0 Warriors in Week 2.<\/p>\n In their most recent matchup, they dominated through\u00a0 the air, as Sean Mannion threw for 372 yards and four touchdowns. That\u00a0 performance put him at second in the nation in passing yards, and the\u00a0 team currently stands at third with 436.5 per contest.<\/p>\n Unfortunately for the Beavers, their defense has been\u00a0 the real story thus far, and not for good reasons. They showed improvements\u00a0 in holding Hawaii to just 14 points, but they\u2019ll need to revert back\u00a0 to their 2012 ways if they want to contain the Utes. Utah is currently\u00a0 No. 10 in the country in scoring, and their approach on offense is balanced\u00a0 through both the air and on the ground.<\/p>\n The Beavers are giving up more than 300 yards per\u00a0 game to opposing quarterbacks, and putting pressure on Travis Wilson\u00a0 will be crucial. He hasn\u2019t thrown a pick yet this season, and OSU\u2019s\u00a0 secondary will need to make him uncomfortable, as tackling has been\u00a0 a problem thus far. [soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n The Utes have started off their season in impressive\u00a0 fashion. They\u2019ve averaged 50 points per game, which is good enough\u00a0 for 10th in the nation, and they\u2019ve given up just 16.5, which places\u00a0 them at 31st. The caliber of competition hasn\u2019t been the highest,\u00a0 as Utah State and Weber State will be two of the easier opponents, so\u00a0 now it\u2019s time to prove they have what it takes against a legitimate\u00a0 Pac-12 opponent.<\/p>\n Defensively, it\u2019s all about stopping the pass. Oregon\u00a0 State has a couple of potential playmakers at running back, but Mannion\u00a0 has been running the show thus far, and that\u2019s not expected to change.\u00a0 Utah has recorded nine sacks in just two weeks, and must look to get\u00a0 to the quarterback in Week 3.<\/p>\n Offensively, this one is all about Wilson making plays\u00a0 both through the air and on the ground. We mentioned that the attack\u00a0 is balanced, and Wilson is the reason why. He had five total touchdowns\u00a0 against Weber State\u2014three through the air, two on the ground\u2014and\u00a0 that\u2019s the exact skill set that drove the Beavers to an upset loss\u00a0 in the first week of the season.<\/p>\n When looking at the numbers, Utah has to be favored.\u00a0 Despite Oregon State\u2019s surprisingly impressive 2012 performance, it\u2019s\u00a0 just 5-14 Straight Up in its last 19 road contests.
