Heading into the weekend St. Louis is tied with Pittsburgh atop the National League Central and all of baseball. <\/p>\n

Buy Razor Ray’s MLB Picks Today!<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n They have been struggling lately and things don\u2019t get any easier with a trip to visit first place Oakland.<\/p>\n While they were struggling against Teams from Texas there offense was elusive. The one game they won in five they scored 13 runs but in the other 4 combined they managed just 10. When you look at the Cardinals roster you see a lot of players enjoying seasons at levels they never have before (I am looking at you Matt Carpenter among others).<\/p>\n It makes you wonder if they are just regressing to the mean of being pretty good but not great.<\/p>\n Starter Shelby Miller has been brilliant at times this season. However, his last start was his worst of the season which makes you wonder if he might be hitting a bit of a wall during his first full season in the Big Leagues. It should come as no surprise that Miller is strongest at home so this could be an excellent spot to fade the young righthander.<\/p>\n Something has not been right with the Cardinals as they have seen others teams catch them in the standings.<\/p>\n It looks like the American League West is going to be just a two team race between Oakland and Texas. The two teams are virtually tied heading into the weekend with Oakland hoping to do what Texas did last week – sweep the Cardinals. Oakland is winning two out of every three games at home this season and this should be a good series. [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]<\/p>\n Oakland just might be catching the Cardinals at just the right time and it might be the Rangers they have to thank for it. They have to capitalize.<\/p>\n If someone told you that Shelby Miller would have less wins and a higher WHIP than Bartolo Colon at this point in the season you would surely laugh…but it is true.<\/p>\n Colon is 10-2 and Oakland has won his last 7 starts (all favourable decisions for the lumbering righty). When he was in his prime he used to strike out a lot of batters and walk a lot also.<\/p>\n Now he is pitching to contact and is on pace for his best season ever. At home he hasn\u2019t lost yet (4-0) a trend likely to continue Friday night.<\/p>\n The Cardinals just aren\u2019t going good right now so I don\u2019t feel comfortable backing them on the road with a pitcher who has been grasping for it lately. Colon is still a mystery to me but a profitable one at that. There won\u2019t be fireworks in this one but it should be an entertaining contest.<\/p>\n Oakland steals the opener.<\/p>\n
