Bountygate was the biggest story of last offseason. Could the New Orleans Saints get through the suspensions and have a good year? Right out of the gate, the Saints started the 2012-2013 season 0-4. The Saints turned it around to get to 5-5, but they then dropped four of their last six to finish 7-9 and out of the playoff race.<\/p>\n
With Bountygate in the rear view mirror, can the Saints get it back together in the 2013-2014 season? It wasn\u2019t long ago that the Saints were beating Peyton Manning and the Indianapolis Colts to win the Super Bowl. They have a few specific needs they must address to get back to that point, but they also have some key parts all set as well.<\/p>\n
Drew Brees looked a little off at the beginning of the season last year, but he got it going as the season progressed. Brees is still one of the best signal callers in the league, and he has plenty of great weapons to throw the ball to. Brees did throw 19 interceptions last year, so that is a number he\u2019ll need to cut down on. Jimmy Graham has emerged as one of the league\u2019s best tight ends. <\/p>\n

Even though the Saints can throw it as well if not better than anyone in the league, they\u2019ll need to run it a little better this year. New Orleans only ran the ball on 34.7% of plays last year. Playoff teams averaged a run 45% of the time.<\/p>\n
The defense gets a new look this year as Rob Ryan enters as the team\u2019s new defensive coordinator. Some Saints defenders are already saying that Ryan\u2019s defensive style is similar to Gregg Williams, who was the coordinator when the Saints won it all. <\/p>\n
Kenny Vaccarro may start in his rookie year at the safety spot. The Saints will implement a new 3-4 defense to try to get more pressure on the opposing quarterback. The defense definitely needs to be better since they allowed 7,042 yards last year.<\/p>\n
Getting Sean Payton back on the sideline is absolutely huge for this team. Payton\u2019s relationship with Drew Brees makes this offense as dangerous as any in the NFL. Payton should have this team ready to go as they go for some redemption this year.<\/p>\n
