The RBC Heritage has its work cut out for it – it is impossible to recreate the drama that culminated in Adam Scott’s first major win at the Masters. But the top dogs are not shying away from this week’s event – 14 players that finished inside the top 25 at Augusta will tee it up at Hilton Head Island. <\/p>\n
2013 RBC Heritage<\/strong> Defending Champion<\/strong>: Carl Pettersson ($1,026,000)<\/p>\n Harbour Town is one of the top 10 shortest courses on TOUR \u2013 ball striking, accuracy and greens in regulation are what are going to win this tournament. So are course management and an ability to get it done in breezy conditions. Let’s take a look at the names to watch this weekend and who could emerge victorious a week after one of the more memorable Masters in recent memory.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n Brandt Snedeker 14\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Snedeker has had a tough couple of months \u2013 a rib injury kept him from being at his best. If not for a collapse on Sunday, he may have earned himself a Green Jacket! Still he settled for a T6 and appears to be back to form. He won this event in 2011. He is 4th on TOUR in GIR to date this season and 11th in strokes gained putting and simply owns one of the best flat-sticks in the game. If he can get over the disappointment of last week, he should content this weeks as well.<\/p>\n Jim Furyk 16\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Loves this track \u2013 has a T8, a fourth, a pair of seconds and win in 2010 in his last eight starts at this event. He is in the midst of 12 straight cuts made and enters off an OK T25 at the Masters. He has the control game to excel on this track, obviously \u2013 he is definitely one to watch out for this week.<\/p>\n Luke Donald 16\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Has been disappointing this year but his game perfectly suits this course. He doesn\u2019t need to bomb it off the tee and precision iron play and putting are essential here. He was an uncharacteristic T37 last year but finished inside the top 3 in his three previous starts here. Harbour Town may be just what the doctor ordered for Donald.<\/p>\n Matt Kuchar 16\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Showed some flashes of brilliance last week but had some troubling holes as well on his way to a T8 finish \u2013 his fourth top 10 already this season. He has made 8\/9 cuts with two top 10s and four top 25s here but was a disappointing T44 last year.<\/p>\n Jason Day 25\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Ahhh, Mr. Day \u2013 my sleeper from last week! He finished third last week after a second in the Masters in 2011 \u2013 his emotions may be his worst enemy this week. Still his putting looked terrific \u2013 something that will come in handy this week. He has made 8\/9 cuts with two top 10s and four top 25s here but was a disappointing T44 last year.<\/p>\n Jason Dufner 25\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Melted down in the final round of the Masters and finished T20 – he ranked sixth in greens in regulation and 16th in putting. His iron play was very good last week \u2013 he is now 33rd on the PGA TOUR in GIR and 65th in adjusted scoring. Duf has top 25 finishes in his last two starts here \u2013 the more relaxed atmosphere this week may serve him well.<\/p>\n Boo Weekley 33\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Had back-to-back wins at Harbour Town in 2007 and 2008 with three top 15s since and a T6 in 2012. He enters this week playing some good golf – a T8 in Puerto Rico and a runner-up in Tampa. Weekley has never missed a cut here and has the best history of any entry in this event. [soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n Graeme McDowell 33\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Missed the cut last week at the Masters after three top 10s this season. He is 10th in fairways hit, 13th in strokes gained-putting, first in scrambling and 16th in adjusted scoring on TOUR and will be looking for that rebound performance this week.<\/p>\n Billy Horschel 40\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Has never played this event but has been impressive this year so far. He leads the PGA TOUR with 21 consecutive cuts made, the last two of which resulted in a T2 in Houston and a T3 in San Antonio. His aggressive style may not be the best fit for Harbour Town but there is no denying that he has been impressive lately.<\/p>\n Zach Johnson 40\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Finished second here last year but also has two missed cuts in his last five appearances \u2013 2008 and 2011. He has yet to earn a top 10 finish on TOUR this year but he is accurate off the tee, a good wedge player and a solid putter \u2013 perfect attributes for this track.<\/p>\n Aaron Baddeley 50\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Is coming off a T15 at the Valero Texas Open and is a former winner here. He missed the cut in this event last year but had a string of six top 25s before his unfortunate 2012.<\/p>\n Bill Haas 50\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Has only made three of eight cuts here with no top 25s but he is one of the most consistent pros on TOUR right now – he co-leads the PGA TOUR with five top 10s and ranks sixth in greens hit. He is coming off an OK T20 at the Masters and looks good to erase his awful history on this track.<\/p>\n Ernie Els 50\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Has been unflattering the last four years here – three missed cuts and a T48 but he did finish T2 in 2007. In all, he’s made 10\/13 cuts with seven top 10s including that runner-up and two thirds and is coming off a T13 at the Masters. Els is not being talked about this week but is good value at 50\/1.<\/p>\n Stewart Cink 50\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Two time winner here \u2013 2000 and 2004 is coming off a T25 at the Masters – his fourth top 25 of 2012. Cink is quietly having a very good year and could content this week.<\/p>\n I would love to go with someone other than the favorite but I just can\u2019t this week. Brandt Snedeker at 14\/1<\/strong> is my pick \u2013 he is obviously back from his rib injury and I don\u2019t think his meltdown at the Masters will affect him as much as most think. He has a great record here and has the game to get it done in impressive style.<\/p>\n My sleeper is Bill Haas at 50\/<\/strong>1. He was also good last week as he has been all season long.
