2008\u00a0PapaJohns.com\u00a0Bowl<\/h2>\n

The third annual Papajohns.com Bowl will be played on\u00a0December 29th at 3:00 pm, at Legion Field in Birmingham, AL. \u00a0On Dec. 29. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. \u00a0and the game will be televised nationally on ESPN and broadcast nationally on ESPN Radio. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

The 2007 matchup featured the Southern Miss Golden Eagles and the Cincinnati Bearcats. As with last year’s game, the participants were a former Conference USA member (Cincinnati) and a current C-USA member (Southern Miss).<\/p>\n

The 2008 game sees a 6-6 (SU) North Carolina State team face off against a 7-5 (SU) Rutgers team.<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/strong>If you had said in mid-October that the North Carolina State Wolfpack and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights would be playing in the Papa John’s.com Bowl, it would have sounded crazy.\u00a0NC State was 2-6 and Rutgers was 2-5, but both reeled off winning streaks to earn this December 29 game at Legion Field.\u00a0Oddsmakers currently have the Scarlet Knights listed as 7-point favorites versus the Wolfpack, while the game’s total is sitting at 55\u00bd.<\/p>\n

These two teams have never previously met. Both teams are a combined 16-2 ATS in their last 18 games. Rutgers has won and covered bowl games the past two seasons, including a 52-30 win over Ball State in last year’s International Bowl.<\/p>\n
