Mike Weir narrowly missed carding a 59 on Friday, but his four-under 67 Sunday gave him a one-shot lead after three rounds of the Deutsche Bank Championship. There was a second cut at three-under-par 210 with 14 players missing out on the final round. Among those 14 were 2007 champion Phil Mickelson, who shot one-over 72 to finish at 211, Adam Scott (211) and Kenny Perry (213).<\/p>\n
“I’ll just go out there and play,” Weir said, adding that his third round wasn’t “textbook” because his ball-striking wasn’t as sharp as he’d like. “But I held it together.”<\/p>\n
Given the quality and number of players close to him, Weir will probably have to do more than hold it together.<\/p>\n
“I’ve got my hands full,” Weir said. That he does.<\/p>\n
