The Tebow mess didn\u2019t help, of course, but the seeds of failure were planted well before Tebow came on board and long before Darrelle Revis tore up an ACL in Week 3 against the Dolphins and was lost for the year.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a quarterback league, and Rex Ryan\u2019s refusal to admit to what his eyes told him \u2013 namely, that Mark Sanchez not only was not getting better, but that he was actually regressing \u2013 set the franchise back for at least a few years.<\/p>\n

\nGreg McElroy probably won\u2019t light it up this Sunday against the Bills. After getting sacked 11 times last weekend no one would blame him if he doesn\u2019t even want to play.<\/p>\n

But even if he leads the Jets over the Bills in the final game of a best-forgotten season, on Monday morning the front office will be in the market for a new QB.<\/p>\n

Once the decision was made, back in March, to show confidence in Sanchez by giving him a huge contract, it was basically over for the Jets. They paid him about $14 million this season, and word is that even if they cut him, they will pay him $8 million for 2013. And they are $20 million over the salary cap for next year.<\/p>\n

In true Jet fashion, the front office is now talking about bringing in another problem (Michael Vick) once they show Tebow and Sanchez the back door. Assuming the front office itself, and Ryan, are still around to make the decisions.[soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n

If the Bills win Sunday, New York and Buffalo will both be able to say they escaped the cellar in the AFC East, as they\u2019ll tie for third at 6-10. For the Bills, it will mark the seventh consecutive losing season.<\/p>\n

Buffalo is in danger of ending the season with four straight losses, which might be curtains for head coach Chan Gailey. There was some talk that Ryan Fitzpatrick would also be looking for work in 2013, but cooler heads have prevailed and he\u2019s expected back next season.<\/p>\n

THE PICK \u2013 The Bills had a decent offense early in the season, but in the last six games have scored more than 19 points only once, and that was against Jacksonville.<\/p>\n

But this game is all about contracts for the coaches and skill players, so we\u2019re looking for some points on the board.<\/p>\n
