The Falcons showed something in handling the Saints on national television last Thursday night. \u00a0Which is why I am so surprised that the line on this one is only 3.5 points. \u00a0The Falcons are 11-1 right? \u00a0I guess that there is still a lot of doubt about this team truly being among the elite in the NFL despite the lofty record…<\/p>\n

Against the Saints it was a strong defensive showing by Atlanta. \u00a0Every time Drew Brees made a bad decision the Falcons were there to make him pay.<\/p>\n

5 interceptions made for a relatively easy victory despite being outgained thoroughly. \u00a0In fact the Atlanta offense hasn\u2019t scored more than 24 points in a win since October despite being loaded with talent…<\/p>\n

This number seems like a no-brainer given the teams involved and when you look at the history there is no reason to question the Atlanta side.<\/p>\n

The Falcons won a close game earlier in the season against Carolina, have won the last 5 in the series and 8 of 10 – with a 7-3 ATS record to boot.<\/p>\n

Carolina<\/strong><\/p>\n

Carolina was on the other side of last week\u2019s emotion filled game with the Chiefs. \u00a0Even though they didn\u2019t experience the human loss I am sure they are glad to get home and back to normal, even if normal is a playing out the string of another lost season. \u00a0[soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n

The improvement that was expected in several areas has not come to be…The biggest disappointment has been QB Cam Newton. \u00a0Though physically blessed he has not progressed this year and if anything is showing more immaturity. \u00a0I am sure he is frustrated but rumours are he is losing the team.<\/p>\n

The defense was also supposed to make a leap but they are down in the lower half in most categories.<\/p>\n

The Panthers are in a tough division but even with the fall of the Saints they haven\u2019t been able to make any headway…<\/p>\n

The Panthers are a disastrous 1-5 ATS at home this season, yet another reason why I was surprised this line on this was so small.<\/p>\n

When you have Cam Newton on your side you never know but I don\u2019t like the odds on Carolina in this one.<\/p>\n
