The Demon Deacons have had some ugly losses but they are just one win away from becoming bowl eligible with two games to play. Neither will be easy but this week will be an extremely hard test as they visit Notre Dame. <\/p>\n
Wake Forest Demon Deacons (5-5) vs #3 Notre Dame Fighting Irish (10-0) Wake Forest<\/p>\n \u00a0These teams met last year with ND emerging victorious in Winston-Salem. \u00a0Wake has not been a good road team this year and got hammered last week while visiting NC State.<\/p>\n The best thing the Deacons have going for them is experience at QB with junior Tanner Price. \u00a0With just a couple of games to go he is not going to match his statistics from last year but at the very least he shouldn\u2019t freak out from the environs. \u00a0Wake has been an ineffective team moving the ball this year ranking 113 in yards per game. \u00a0The only good thing is that they don\u2019t turn the ball over that much which can keep them hanging around.<\/p>\n Speaking of hanging around in games that is why they have a 5-5 ATS record. \u00a0In one other contest against an elite defense this year Wake was hammered 52-0 by Florida State. \u00a0FSU is a much more explosive team than ND and easily covered the 28 point spread. \u00a0Wake has a much better chance of keeping this one within range.<\/p>\n Notre Dame<\/p>\n Just two games to go for the Irish. \u00a0 [soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n After escaping against Pitt they did what they needed to do against Boston College last weekend. \u00a0It would have been helpful to destroy the Eagles but the win kept them in the conversation for the Championship although they are currently on the outside looking in from their third position. \u00a0Next week\u2019s road game at USC is huge but they have one more obstacle. \u00a0Lucky for them it is a pretty low hurdle.<\/p>\n The Notre Dame defense again reigned supreme by holding BC to just 6 points last week. \u00a0At the same time QB Everett Golson had one of his better games of the season which is important because they need to get him ready for the Trojans. \u00a0Either way look for the Irish to pound the rock at Wake with running backs Theo Reddick and Cierre Wood who are both having fine seasons, especially Reddick who might finish the year in the 1000 yard club.<\/p>\n This week again is the classic debate of whether the Irish will score enough to make you look good. \u00a0The past two wins have been ATS losses and they are just 5-5 ATS this year. \u00a0They are just 2-4 ATS as a double digit favourite with both of those wins coming away from Notre Dame Stadium. \u00a0I am afraid this might be another one of those situations.<\/p>\n Spread Pick: Wake Forest +24 Demon Deacons vs Fighting Irish NCAA Football Spread\/Handicapping The Demon Deacons have had some ugly losses but they are just one win away from becoming bowl eligible with two games to play.
