For the second week in a row the Mississippi State Bulldogs showed they are not quite among the elite in the SEC. This time at home to Texas A&M they were stormed out of the gate by the Aggies. <\/p>\n
#21 Mississippi State Bulldogs (7-2) vs #7 LSU Tigers (7-2) ATS Matchup Stats<\/a> | Gambling Insight!<\/a> | Buy Ray’s Picks!<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Mississippi State<\/strong><\/p>\n The game was over by halftime and the final margin of 25 points could have been a lot worse. \u00a0Things get no easier this week with a trip to wounded LSU. \u00a0By the way the Bulldogs haven\u2019t won in Baton Rouge in 1991.<\/p>\n After two straight blowout losses the Bulldogs have to be searching for answers. \u00a0The defense, which was supposed to be the stronger unit on the team has been shelled two weeks in a row, while the offense has scored just 20 points. <\/p>\n \u00a0Nothing is really working and it is hard to see how things are going to change at LSU. \u00a0QB Tyler Russell is big and strong, perhaps he is going to have to put himself in harm\u2019s way to make some big plays on Saturday.<\/p>\n My initial reaction was that the number is a little high for this one. \u00a0Both teams are reeling and LSU is hardly a dynamic offense. \u00a0The series has been one sided in terms of wins and losses as well as ATS with LSU covering in seven of the last ten. \u00a0MSU hasn\u2019t scored more than 7 points in any of the last two and they are going to have to double that to be a winning option. [soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n LSU<\/strong><\/p>\n The Tigers had their shot and came up just short last week against top ranked Alabama. \u00a0Clearly this was an emotional game so hopefully coach Les MIles can have them ready to play when Mississippi State comes to town. \u00a0The fact they are at home could be a big advantage this week. \u00a0They are 5-1 in Death Valley (although just 3-3 ATS). \u00a0LSU still has an outside shot at a BCS bowl bid if they finish strong.<\/p>\n In essentially three weeks freshman running back Jeremy Hill has jumped to become the top rusher for LSU. \u00a0It wasn\u2019t easy last week but he ripped off 107 yards against Alabama, he should find it much easier to rumble against the Bulldogs 73 ranked rushing defense. \u00a0QB Zach Mettenburger might have had his best game of the season against the Tide but it just wasn\u2019t enough. \u00a0He can\u2019t regress against a very good passing defense.<\/p>\n LSU makes me nervous when they are laying so many points. \u00a0They have not been a good bet all season long – just 4-5 ATS. \u00a0I also worry about their emotional state, if they get down will they fight back and if they are up will they throw the hammer down. \u00a0I think you have to stay away from this one on Saturday. \u00a0Their season might have ended last week so anything can happen<\/p>\n Spread Pick: Mississippi State +14 Bulldogs vs Tigers NCAA Football Spread\/Handicapping For the second week in a row the Mississippi State Bulldogs showed they are not quite among the elite in the SEC.
