What preseason? \u00a0While testing levels of ineptitude last month the Jets soared last week against Buffalo. \u00a0We all thought this team couldn\u2019t be that bad but can they really be this good either. <\/p>\n
New York Jets (1-0) vs Pittsburgh Steelers (0-1) Matchup<\/a>\u00a0|\u00a0Preview<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n But wait a minute, were they really?<\/p>\n Or were they like so many other teams that burst out of the gate benefitted by a lopsided turnover margin.<\/p>\n The defense let CJ Spiller average more than 10 yards a carry.<\/p>\n That can\u2019t be good for a team that prides itself on defense.<\/p>\n But the offense might not be as bad as feared. \u00a0Tim Tebow was a non-factor but QB Mark Sanchez had one of his better days as a pro tossing 3 scores and just one pick. \u00a0Maybe even more important was that receiver Stephen Hill, another rookie with an impressive debut, has proven to be more than just a physical freak.<\/p>\n Sanchez is not as bad as people think but I also believe you have to surround him with talent to make it work.<\/p>\n What are these Jets? \u00a0Odds are they are not the offensive juggernaut we saw last week so what to expect on the road at Pittsburgh. \u00a0These teams met twice two season ago splitting both (in Pittsburgh). \u00a0Oddly, the final margin in both contests was the same as the 5 point number currently listed.<\/p>\n It doesn\u2019t seem right to think the Jets are going to pull this one out against a highly motivated Steelers team.<\/p>\n Like every other 0-1 team the Steelers have their backs against it and will be facing a Jets team that couldn\u2019t be any looser right now. \u00a0Last week they lost to the new Manning led Broncos but that game was definitely closer than the final 12 point margin that gave Denver the easy cover.\u00a0[soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n Despite not being able to run the ball well Pittsburgh dominated in time of possession. \u00a0They just never went anywhere with 8 penalties in the contest.<\/p>\n Pittsburgh was very methodical against Denver last week. \u00a0Perhaps it was by design playing the first game of the year at altitude but I would have liked to see more pace for them. \u00a0\u00a0At home and now desperate I think we should see some more bounce in their step.<\/p>\n The will especially look to establish the run after seeing Buffalo gash the Jets defense. \u00a0These guys don\u2019t often lose at home.<\/p>\n As mentioned earlier it is funny that 5 points was the margin of victory the last time these two teams played.<\/p>\n I would have thought the number might have been three after last week but clearly the linesmakers are looking to challenge and force answering the following questions:<\/p>\n
