The Greg Schiano era got off to a great start with a win (that I am pretty sure I predicted) to open the season last week. \u00a0It certainly wasn\u2019t anything fancy as Tampa was outgained in the contest but nevertheless they got it done. \u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0) vs New York Giants (0-1) Matchup<\/a>\u00a0|\u00a0Preview<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n It is amazing what mistake free football can do for a team that might be limited in some ways.<\/p>\n Winning the turnover battle was also a critical factor is getting off to a good start.<\/p>\n To beat the Giants is likely going to take a stronger offensive performance. \u00a0Rookie runner Doug Martin was effective in running for 90+ yards but they need to establish the passing game (which is a good possibility seeing as Dallas exploited them in that area last week and the Giants are short on available secondary talent).<\/p>\n QB Josh Freeman is athletic enough to do a lot of things that made Tony Romo successful against New York in the season opener.<\/p>\n When this one came out at over 7 points I thought the play was definitely on the Tampa side of things. \u00a0Now that it has dipped the value has dipped with it. \u00a0I think this should be a close game but there is still the possibility of New York cranking things up and winning easily. \u00a0I won\u2019t be getting down unless the number is 7 or higher though.<\/p>\n Great teaser opportunity for those who like that kind of action.<\/p>\n The Giants kicked off the season hosting Dallas and things didn\u2019t go as planned. \u00a0Now they have another home game to get back on track or prove that the Super Bowl hangover is alive and well. \u00a0Against the Cowboys the G-Men were outplayed more than the final score reflected, opposite of what the Buccaneers did.\u00a0\u00a0[soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n That is why this one may be difficult to get a real handle on so early in the season.<\/p>\n New York is still a good team but they didn\u2019t show much against Dallas. \u00a0Nobody had a bad day but when it came time to make big plays it seems that Dallas was the only one making them. \u00a0They can probably beat Tampa by keeping it simple. \u00a0If receiver Victor Cruz can hold on to the ball they should have more than enough offense to win easily.<\/p>\n They also need to make sure they contain Freeman. \u00a0When they pass rush flushed Romo but they didn\u2019t get to him he killed them.<\/p>\n New York was favoured last week and now they are favoured again at home. \u00a0Any team that starts the season with a loss is under big time pressure to even things up the following week.<\/p>\n Especially if you are the defending champs and especially if you are in New York. \u00a0I expect a focused effort but not a blowout.<\/p>\n
