The third leg of the FedEx Championship goes down this week from Crooked Stick in Carmel, Indiana. The top 70 in the FedEx point\u2019s race will be looking to sneak into the top 30 while at the same time get a hold of the $1.4 million first prize. <\/p>\n
2012 BMW Championship Let\u2019s take a look at the \u201cPlayers\u201d in this week\u2019s FedEx Cup Playoff race.<\/p>\n Rory McIlroy 13\/2<\/strong><\/p>\n The putting issues that plagued Rory at the Barclays were a distant memory with his performance in the Deutsche Bank \u2013 you simply can\u2019t keep this man down. He is again the World #1 and the FedEx Cup points leader and oh ya he is currently first on the PGA TOUR in adjusted scoring. He will definitely be in the hunt this weekend but may have used up some of his mojo holding off Louis last week.<\/p>\n Tiger Woods 7\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Finished third last week and looked mighty good on Sunday for a change with a bogey-free, 5-under 66. He had just four bogeys all week and shot in the 60s in every round. Woods leads the PGA TOUR in total driving; second in adjusted scoring and played his most consistent golf in years last week \u2013 he is scary heading into the BMW!<\/p>\n Dustin Johnson 12\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Has been sensational as of late – a T3 at The Barclays and a T4 at the Deutsche Bank and has moved to ninth on TOUR in adjusted scoring. I picked him last week and it almost payed off. This week he will need his best effort against two of the hottest golfers on the planet.<\/p>\n Adam Scott 20\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Scott has been consistently good over the last couple of months and has the game to get it done this week.<\/p>\n Louis Osthuisen 22\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Has finished in the top 5 of each of the first two FedEx Playoff events and nearly pulled it off last week. He is seventh on the PGA TOUR in both GIR and adjusted scoring and he has become a weekly threat on TOUR.<\/p>\n Phil Mickelson 22\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Finished T4 last week for his best result in some time. Phil adjusted his grip before the Deutsche Bank and it nearly put him over the top. He was fourth in Strokes Gained-Putting and T6 in birdies last week proving that Phil is ready to contend once again!<\/p>\n Lee Westwood 25\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Finished T5 two weeks ago and was T13 last week. He has been relatively quiet but his results have been decent. Westy leads the PGA TOUR in greens in regulation and should be ready to make a little noise this week.<\/p>\n Luke Donald 25\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Donald should be motivated to get back in the conversation as the #1 golfer in the world. Last week he was a bit of a mess however \u2013 T26 in Boston. He is 23rd on TOUR in fairways hit, second in Strokes Gained-Putting and 11th in adjusted scoring but doesn\u2019t appear to be in the best form at the moment.<\/p>\n Jason Dufner 25\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Was in the hunt last week but fell apart with an uncharacteristic three double-bogeys in the last two rounds. He is sixth in total driving, fifth in greens in regulation and third in adjusted scoring on TOUR. One thing we have learned is to never count out Mr. Dufner.<\/p>\n Keegan Bradley 28\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Started out very slowly last week and nearly missed the cut but in true Stud fashion came back to finish T13. When this guy gets it going he is very hard to stop. He is certainly one to keep your eye on this week!<\/p>\n Brandt Snedeker 28\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Sneds did enough the past couple of weeks to gain a Ryder Cup bid – he finished second in the first leg of the FedEx Playoffs and sixth last week so we know that he is dialed in. My fear is that his motivation was lost when Davis Love III called!<\/p>\n Sergio Garcia 28\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Took last week off but won at Sedgefield and finished third at Bethpage Black. He is 18th on the PGA TOUR in both Strokes Gained-Putting and the all-around; also 19th in adjusted scoring and is ramping up for the Ryder Cup.<\/p>\n Nick Watney 40\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Watney is one of the more impressive golfers the last couple of months with seven top 25s in nine starts dating back to the U.S. Open. He won the Barclays and was T20 last week. Yup Watney is an intriguing entry this week<\/p>\n Jim Furyk 50\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Is fifth on the PGA TOUR in fairways hit, 35th in GIR, 31st in Strokes Gained-Putting and fifth in adjusted scoring and is coming off a very respectable T13 last week. He like so many in the field was named to the Ryder Cup team as well. Furyk at 50\/1 \u2013 you gotta be kidding me! [soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n John Senden 50\/1<\/strong><\/p>\n Double bogeyed the very last hole last week to fall out of the top 10. He now has five top 20s in his last seven starts. He is fourth on the PGA TOUR in greens in regulation and 17th in adjusted scoring and is as solid as they come at the moment.<\/p>\n All in the field have their own reasons why they should gain my pick but this looks like a three horse race this week between Rory, Tiger and Dustin Johnson.<\/p>\n My pick is Tiger at 7\/1<\/strong>. He is due for a win and will have the motivation of beating Rory and regaining the FedEx points lead heading into the last week. Tiger played his best tournament in years last week and I think he\u2019ll build on that this week.<\/p>\n My sleeper is Jim Furyk<\/strong>.
