Griffin. \u00a0He is a big rookie who has yet to give up more than three runs in his 5 Big League appearances but I bet you have never heard of him. \u00a0Last time out he gave up just two runs (0 walks) against the Yankees. \u00a0He is catching a break as the Jays will be without slugger Jose Bautista. Toronto<\/h3>\n

The Jays were also feeling good as this series opened Tuesday night, having just swept the Boston Red Sox at Fenway – something they hadn\u2019t done since 2009. \u00a0This team is still wracked with injuries but got a few replacement parts for the pitching staff from their trade with Houston. \u00a0Toronto is a team that everyone is expecting to collapse but they keep hanging in their. \u00a0This is a big series to help determine what they might do before next week\u2019s trade deadline.<\/p>\n

The Jays pitching staff is barely hanging on these days. \u00a0The injuries to three starters has hurt but what is killing them is the decline of \u201cace\u201d Ricky Romero. \u00a0Romero has lost his last 5 starts and his current ERA is almost double what it was a year ago. \u00a0It is gut check time for Romero as he is getting outpitched by guys named Laffey. \u00a0If he keeps this up than he is going to become a joke. \u00a0Oakland is the lowest scoring team in the League so maybe that will wake him up.<\/p>\n
