The White Sox arrived at Yankees’ Stadium on Thursday, winners of five of their last seven, but it was still a shocker when they rallied back from three runs down in the top of the ninth on a Dayan Viciedo three-run homer off David Robertson, ending the team’s string of six straight losses to the their New York nemesis. \u00a0<\/p>\n
The Yankees also saw their five-game winning streak snapped – not to mention wasting a great start by Ivan Nova – as they lost for only the sixth time in 25 games this month.<\/p>\n
Now they will aim to maintain their cushion over Baltimore in the American League East when they take on Chicago in Game 3 of a four-game series on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n

And after Thursday’s Game 1 win, Chicago is tied with the Yankees for the fewest road losses (14) in the majors.<\/p>\n Up next in the rotation, and looking to keep that trend alive for Chicago is veteran Jake Peavy, who got roughed up a bit in his 15th start of the year on Monday, but was still able to keep his team in the game by holding the Twins to just three runs.<\/p>\n It wouldn’t be enough, though, as the 31-year old righty dropped his third straight start despite allowing a grand total of five earned runs over that stretch (22 innings), as the Sox fell at Minnesota in a 4-1 defeat.<\/p>\n Peavy is now 3-2 with a 2.30 ERA in seven road starts this season, but if he continues to pitch the way he has been, the wins should start to pile up, soon.<\/p>\n The only thing standing in his way in this one will be a power-hitting Yankees lineup that is ranked No. 1 in the league with 118 home runs.\u00a0[dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]<\/p>\n But not all is rosy for the Yankees, as they are hampered by an injury-plagued rotation, and will give Hiroki Kuroda the ball for this matinee matchup.<\/p>\n The 37-year old right-hander extended his recent hot stretch, offering up just a single run and five hits over seven innings, while earning his seventh win during Monday’s 7-1 win over Cleveland.<\/p>\n He is now 4-1 with a 1.93 ERA in his last six starts while working at least seven innings in five of those outings, all while surrendering just one homer over his last four starts.<\/p>\n Kuroda is 4-3 with a 3.15 ERA and 32 strikeouts at home, so the White Sox’s 7th ranked lineup will have their work cut out for them.<\/p>\n
