The New York Yankees and Cleveland Indians begin their three-game season series after the Yankees took four of seven 2011 meetings when the two meet up in the Bronx on Monday. <\/p>\n
The Tribe are coming off two straight losses, while the Yanks are rolling after taking their last two against the Mets.<\/p>\n
CLE: Josh Tomlin (3-4, 5.12 ERA) v NYY: Hiroki Kuroda (6-7, 3.57 ERA) Matchup<\/a>\u00a0|\u00a0Preview<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Indians outfielder Johnny Damon, who has six hits in his last 15 at-bats, is returning to the Bronx, a place he has visited with three different clubs since ending his stint with the Yankees after helping them win the 2009 World Series.<\/p>\n He will likely get some offensive help from Asdrubal Cabrera, who is 9-for-30 with four homers and eight RBIs over his last eight contests. His .384 on-base percentage leads all middle infielders, with the Yankees’ Robinson Cano is fourth at .367, and teammate Derek Jeter is seventh at .355.<\/p>\n Five of Cano’s last eight hits have been home runs, including a tiebreaking 10-inning round tripper Sunday in the Yankees 6-5 win over the Mets.<\/p>\n It was just one of New York’s league-leading 112 home runs. The right-hander is 2-1 with a 4.26 ERA in three outings against New York, losing his only appearance in the Bronx last June as he gave up six runs and a career-high 12 hits over five innings in a 9-1 defeat.<\/p>\n The 27-year fared much better his in his last outing, allowing one run over 6 2-3 innings Tuesday in a 3-2 win over Cincinnati. After going 3-0 with a 1.29 ERA in four starts, Kuroda lost command, giving up four runs over seven innings in Tuesday’s 4-3 home loss to Atlanta.<\/p>\n He walked three batters while striking out six.<\/p>\n Matt\u2019s Free Prediction: New York-<\/strong> The Yankees could do little wrong until three consecutive defeats put an abrupt end to the good times. But a pair of back-to-back win has my attention again.
