Detroit Tigers (28-32) vs Chicago Cubs (20-40) PITCHING MATCHUP<\/strong>: Tigers RH Max Scherzer (5-4, 5.88 ERA) vs. Cubs LH Paul Maholm (4-5, 5.10)<\/p>\n Matchup<\/a>\u00a0|\u00a0Preview<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Detroit<\/strong><\/p>\n Over the weekend they took 2 of 3 from the Cincinnati Reds including a nice comeback win on Sunday Night Baseball. \u00a0Even though these are two really old franchises I feel like there is still no juice for this matchup. \u00a0Still, if Detroit is going to try and get back into the AL Central race than they have to have these games.<\/p>\n The Tigers should be able to keep their bats alive against a weak Cubs staff. \u00a0Starter Max Scherzer is still trying to harness his stuff it seems but since his stellar 15K outing against Pittsburgh he has been just OK. \u00a0The Tigers defense doesn\u2019t help as most would agree that the combo of Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder at the corners it is far from great. \u00a0Scherzer is generally sharper on the road, although it is all relative.
