The 2012 MLB regular season begins its second round of Interleague Play this Friday night which adds a whole new dimension to handicapping the games. <\/p>\n
While a certain amount of unpredictability exists between teams that meet each other just once a year, we have pored over all pertinent stats and information available for the pitching matchups on Friday\u2019s slate of games and uncovered a two-team parlay that promises to get your weekend off to a great start.<\/p>\n
Game 1- Philadelphia Phillies vs. Baltimore Orioles Philadelphia will send Joe Blanton to mound to try and get this team back to its winning ways. After a 4-2 start and 2.81 ERA, the right-hander has given-up 24 earned runs in his last four starts to fall to 4-6 overall with an ERA of 5.27.<\/p>\n Jake Arrieta will be on the mound for Baltimore in what could be his last start in this rotation for awhile after going 0-5 with a 7.96 ERA in his last five starts. Overall, the right-hander is 2-7 on the year with an ERA of 5.53.<\/p>\n The Phillies are 8-2 in their last 10 games on the road and 6-2 in Blanton\u2019s last eight starts in the first game of a series. Philadelphia is also 7-3 in its last nine games in Baltimore. Stick with the Phillies in the front-end of this parlay as Blanton lasts long enough to get the win. The right-hander has lost his last two outings after giving-up 13 earned runs on 14 hits. He is now 4-6 in 11 previous starts with an ERA of 4.65 and a 1.55 WHIP.<\/p>\n The Braves will go with Brandon Beachy as their starter in this one. He is 5-4 with a 1.87 ERA in 11 starts this season. The right-hander has not given-up more than two earned runs in 10 of those outings and has a WHIP of just 0.95.<\/p>\n The Blue Jays are 2-5 in their last seven road games and 4-10 in their last 14 games against the NL East. In six previous Interleague games between these two teams, Atlanta is a perfect 6-0.
