The 2012 MLB regular season heads into the second week of May with a couple of front runners out to a surprising lead while a few favorites continue to try and make-up ground. \u00a0<\/p>\n
After poring through the stats for the matchups on Tuesday\u2019s slate of games, we uncovered a two-team parlay that promises make up any ground you may have lost over the weekend.<\/p>\n
Game 1- Tampa Bay Rays vs. New York Yankees James Shields will put his perfect 5-0 record on the line as the Rays starter in this one. He is coming off a solid performance against Oakland in which gave up just one run on four hits while striking out 11 batters.<\/p>\n The right hander has been a bit sketchy against the Yankees in the past with a 5-11 record and 4.39 ERA.<\/p>\n New York is going with Ivan Nova as its starter for Tuesday\u2019s series opener. His 14-game winning streak came to an end after giving-up five earned runs on nine hits in last Wednesday\u2019s loss to Baltimore. Nova is now 3-1 on the year with an ERA of 5.58. He is 2-0 against the Rays with a 3.47 ERA over the course of his career.<\/p>\n Head-to-head, Tampa Bay is a perfect 7-0 in the last seven meetings including a three-game sweep at home this past April.<\/p>\n Shields has had his share of troubles in New York, but look for the Rays to make it eight straight victories by knocking Nova around even more. [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]<\/p>\n Game 2- Toronto Blue Jays vs. Oakland Athletics It is Ricky Romero\u2019s turn in the starting rotation for Toronto this Tuesday night. He ran his record to 4-0 with a win against Texas his last time out. The left-hander went eight innings for the third time this season and gave-up five earned runs on six hits while striking out six. He has an ERA of 3.64 and a 1.07 WHIP.<\/p>\n Lifetime against the Athletics, he is 4-0 with a 1.49 ERA.<\/p>\n Oakland will send Brandon McCarthy to the mound in this one. He is 2-3 on the year with a 2.96 ERA in seven previous starts. His last time out, he held Boston to one run on five hits in 6 2\/3 innings. The right hander is 3-2 against the Blue Jays with a 3.79 ERA.<\/p>\n The Blue Jays are 6-2 in Romero\u2019s last eight starts on the road and 16-5 in his last 21 starts overall.
