The 2012 MLB regular season heads into the final weekend in April and there have already been a number of early season surprises that have had a direct impact on handicapping the games. \u00a0<\/p>\n
After poring over the stats for Thursday\u2019s matchups, we uncovered a two-team parlay that promises to get your weekend off to a strong start.<\/p>\n
Game 1- Boston Red Sox vs. Chicago White Sox <\/strong> Boston will try and extend its current winning streak to four with Felix Doubront on the mound. The left-hander left his last outing against the Yankees in the sixth inning with a 9-1 lead but was victimized by one of the biggest collapses ever as the Red Sox eventually lost that game 15-9.<\/p>\n Philip Humber will be making his first start since throwing just the 21st<\/span><\/sup> perfect game in Major League history against Seattle last Saturday. He has now retired 29 straight batters and brings a cumulative ERA of just 0.63 into this game.<\/p>\n The Red Sox are 4-13 in Game 1 of their last 17 series and 6-14 in their last 20 games on the road. The White Sox have won the first game in four of their last five series and are primed to grab the early edge in this series against a very inconsistent Boston team. [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]<\/p>\n Game 2- Washington Nationals vs. San Diego Padres<\/strong> Washington will look for the sweep in this series to extend its current winning streak to four games. It will also try and pad its 2.5-game lead in the NL East with Edwin Jackson getting the start. He got bounced around his last time out; giving-up five runs on seven hits in just five innings to raise his ERA on the season to 4.26. The right-hander did pitch a two-hitter against Cincinnati in his previous start.<\/p>\n San Diego will look to avoid the sweep with Edison Volquez on the mound in Game 3. The right-hander is still seeking his first win with the Padres after losing two of his first three starts. He has a 4.30 ERA but of more concern are the 15 walks he has issued in his first 23 innings on the mound.<\/p>\n The Nationals are 14-3 in their last 17 games as favorites and 17-5 in their last 22 games on the road. The Padres are 2-5 in their last seven home games and 0-4 in Volquez\u2019s last four starts.
