There is maybe nothing more surprising than the play of the surging Phoenix Suns in the second half of the season. <\/p>\n
Phoenix Suns (25-24) vs Los Angeles Clippers (28-21)<\/strong> Matchup<\/a>\u00a0|\u00a0Preview<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Phoenix<\/strong><\/p>\n For the most part this is an aged rosters but there must be something in the water because the team has won two in a row and seven of ten heading into L.A. Wednesday night.<\/p>\n The Suns have beaten the Clippers both time they have played them this season, most recently a couple of weeks ago but will have played the night before.<\/p>\n Chief among the veterans leading the charge is point guard Steve Nash. \u00a0Nash is leading the league in assists while shooting an amazing 54% from the field and almost never missing from the charity stripe. \u00a0His mastery makes it possible for players like Grant Hill and Michael Redd to make solid contributions.<\/p>\n Meanwhile Marcin Gortat might be the most unheralded big man in the league.<\/p>\n Los Angeles<\/strong><\/p>\n Just because a Blake Griffin dunk leads Sports Centre doesn\u2019t mean that the Clippers are playing great basketball. [soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n In fact the team is just 5-5 in the last 10 and the Western Conference is bunching up around them. \u00a0The Clips generally play very well at home and will need to to thwart a Suns team on the rise that hasn\u2019t lost to L.A. this year.<\/p>\n If they lose to Phoenix again things will just get that much tighter.<\/p>\n The Clippers have won their last two games by 12 and 16 points.<\/p>\n Blake Griffin and Chris Paul are steady producers but for this team to be special they need someone else to step up. \u00a0Since coming over in a deal for Washington wing Nick Young has been doing so, scoring well despite not logging heavy minutes.<\/p>\n He has shown with the Wizards that he has the capability now he just has to be consistent in his new environs.<\/p>\n
