It isn\u2019t always pretty but the Miami Hurricanes do play some pretty good basketball. \u00a0<\/p>\n

Miami Hurricanes<\/strong><\/p>\n

They are looking to sneak into the Tournament based on a winning ACC Conference record and a couple of nice wins against Duke and Florida State. \u00a0This team is tough, experienced and deeper than people think. \u00a0Their opening round game against a weak Georgia Tech team was not pretty but they got the win they needed.<\/p>\n

When I watch the Canes play two things stand out. \u00a0One is their depth at guard – veterans Durand Scott and Malcolm Grant are strong with the ball and excellent team players. \u00a0The other is how effective big center Reggie Johnson can be. \u00a0Against Duke, at Cameron, he dominated \u00a0their front line. \u00a0He really knows how to use his bulk and it will be fun to see him battle with the Noles Bernard James. Florida State<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Florida State Seminoles didn\u2019t quite have a dream season but they put the rest of the league on notice that they are a team to be reckoned with. \u00a0Thankfully they finished ACC play on a two game winning streak to build some confidence heading into the ACC tournament where they are looking to build even more momentum for March Madness. \u00a0I really liked the heart they showed in coming back against Virginia a couple of games back.<\/p>\n

FSU is among a handful of really great defensive teams across the country. \u00a0Most often when they lose it is because the offense doesn\u2019t hold up their end of the bargain. \u00a0This season, previous top recruit guard Michael Snaer has begun to show more of an offensive mindset but his shot selection is questionable. \u00a0Their best option to score is to feed big Bernard James the ball. \u00a0He has good size and poise and doesn\u2019t force it. \u00a0There is a reason he makes 61% of his shots…he only takes good ones.<\/p>\n
