When LSU beat Marquette it was thought that the SEC might have more depth than expected this year. \u00a0<\/p>\n
Saturday March 3 Matchup<\/a>\u00a0|\u00a0Preview<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n LSU<\/strong><\/p>\n They are currently tied for 6th in the conference right now at 7-8 and need to win on Saturday so the selection committee, if they are even considering them can\u2019t say they didn\u2019t even finish at .500 in their league. \u00a0They are stumbling into this one off of back to back losses.<\/p>\n LSU has a very athletic team that is solid on the defensive end of the floor. \u00a0When it comes to offense this team struggles though.<\/p>\n However, they do have a rare bonified center in Justin Hamilton. \u00a0The transfer from Iowa State leads the team in scoring and rebounding and has the bulk on his 7 foot frame to be really hard to handle some nights.<\/p>\n He played 41 minutes and led the team in rebounds in their overtime home victory against the Tigers.<\/p>\n Auburn<\/strong><\/p>\n The Auburn Tigers are about where they were expected to be when the season began – near the bottom of the SEC. [soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n This team may fight hard but there isn\u2019t much talent on the court at this football school. \u00a0They are especially struggling lately having lost 6 of their last 7 games.<\/p>\n Everyone qualifies for the SEC tournament but it would be a miracle if this squad did any damage there.<\/p>\n Auburn is also not blessed with loads of offensive talent. \u00a0They have a couple of reliable scorers but the most important player against LSU \u00a0is likely center Rob Chubb who will draw primary responsibility for guarding Justin Hamilton.<\/p>\n He will be giving up a little size but should be able to hold his own like he did in the previous game where he had 15 points and 12 boards.<\/p>\n He has really struggled down the stretch only twice scoring more than 8 points so you can\u2019t expect too much.<\/p>\n
