The 2011 Alamo Bowl presents what appears to be an epic battle of David vs. Goliath, as Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III and a revamped No. 16 Baylor Bears take on the Washington Huskies who bring the worst pass defenses in the FBS into the matchup. <\/p>\n
It could be a perfect scenario for Griffin\u2019s finale. Washington brings one of the ranking 116th out of 120 schools in allowing 283.8 passing yards per game.<\/p>\n
Bowl Game Title : Alamo Bowl The spread may just be 9.5 points here, but this one looks like a much bigger mismatch than that on paper. This matchup pits one of college football’s most explosive offenses and set them up against a pretty weak Washington defense. <\/p>\n But then there’s Baylor\u2019s defense who is also rated near the bottom (114th). However, their chances of surviving a pedestrian Washington offense (57th) should be enough to secure the school’s first bowl game victory since beating Arizona in the 1992 Sun Bowl. But it won’t be easy as they will have to contain Dawgs quarterback Keith Price and running back Chris Polk.<\/p>\n If Price and Polk can play well, this game may turn into a shootout.<\/p>\n Hey, crazier things have happened, and although Washington has not been very impressive in any offensive category, their 31.5 points per game oddly enough is decent. <\/p>\n Washington has just the right amount defense it seems to balance and cover up their deficiencies on the offensive side of the football. At the same time, they have enough offensive threats, if taken lightly, could expose just how bad the Bears defensive really is. [soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n Then you have the more likely scenario. <\/p>\n The Bears will cover if they limit mistakes, and continue to be the explosive offense that no one has been able to stop all season. <\/p>\n And it all starts with Griffin, who has passed for 3,998 yards and 36 touchdowns this season against only six interceptions. He has also rushed for nine scores, but has plenty of help fueling a Baylor offense that ranks sixth nationally in average points scored (43.5). <\/p>\n The Bears have a chance to blow the doors off of this one, and all Griffin has to do to wrap up his Heisman season is to just keep doing what got them where they are. Make the big plays.
