Each week during the heart of the NFL season, and once or twice during the NFL Preseason, we\u2019ll gather the troops around the roundtable and hash out the NFL Power rankings. We check out the stats, looks at the records, and, most importantly, we take a close, close look at the heart of each team.\u00a0 <\/p>\n
Best performance from Week 15<\/strong><\/p>\n Philadelphia<\/strong> – The Jets came to the city of Brotherly Love and got stomped by the Eagles. \u00a0An impressive performance in all facets of the game for the leagues quirkiest team.Worst performance from Week 15<\/p>\n Tennessee<\/strong> – This team has overachieved all season long in my books. \u00a0Losing to a winless team this late in the season is all it takes to earn this distinction.<\/p>\n Best game of Week 16<\/strong><\/p>\n San Diego @ Detroit<\/strong> – The Saints vs the Falcons should be a good one too but this one is more urgent for both teams. \u00a0The way the Bolts are playing it looks like they could beat anybody right now while Detroit can clinch a playoff spot with a game to spare.<\/p>\n Power Rankings<\/strong><\/p>\n Green Bay (13-1)<\/strong> \u00a0– I can\u2019t drop them from the top spot just for losing a game but obviously the gap between them and the rest of the league is not as great as it was before. \u00a0They need Greg Jennings for another playoff run.<\/p>\n New England (11-3)<\/strong> – They are looking very good to be the top team in the AFC heading into the playoffs. \u00a0Still I don\u2019t like their chances with that porous defense.<\/p>\n New Orleans (11-3)<\/strong> – Drew Brees has been awesome lately and it looks like another showdown between the Packers and Saints will decide the NFC. \u00a0The first one was pretty exciting.<\/p>\n San Francisco (11-3)<\/strong> – It was a very impressive win for SF on Monday night. \u00a0There were lots of doubters heading into the game but seem to have righted the ship. \u00a0Plus the division isn\u2019t nearly aw awful as it looked a month ago.<\/p>\n Baltimore (10-4) <\/strong> – It was a road tilt but still surprising how badly the Ravens were beaten by San Diego. \u00a0They really need to bounce back if they want to be hosting playoff games instead of going the Wild Card route again.<\/p>\n Pittsburgh (10-4) <\/strong> – Even though the lights came back on we didn\u2019t see much of what makes the Steelers a contender in San Francisco. \u00a0With each passing week it looks more and more like the Wild Card route. \u00a0They should really rest Big Ben to get him right.<\/p>\n Detroit (9-5) <\/strong> – Huge win @ Oakland should get them into the playoffs. \u00a0Will they be able to catch the Packers off guard the last week of the season and build momentum.<\/p>\n Atlanta (9-5) <\/strong> – The Falcons are looking set for the playoffs too. \u00a0As long as they don\u2019t have to face New Orleans or Green Bay they are certainly capable of stealing a game or too when they get there also.<\/p>\n New York Jets (8-6) <\/strong> – They really hurt their playoff chances with the loss against Philly. \u00a0Worse than that they just looked absolutely awful. \u00a0They are in a good battle for that final seed in the AFC.<\/p>\n Cincinnati (8-6) <\/strong> – The Bengals are clinging to their playoffs lives. \u00a0They finish with two home games against Arizona and Baltimore. \u00a0They probably have to win both and it won\u2019t be easy.<\/p>\n Denver (8-6) <\/strong> – Tebow\u2019s magic run was stopped by Brady and the Pats. \u00a0But Oakland lost so the Broncos are still in the driver\u2019s seat to make the playoffs out of teh AFC West. \u00a0Must win at Buffalo this weekend.<\/p>\n Dallas (8-6) <\/strong> – The Cowboys resumed control in the NFC East by beating the Bucs. \u00a0Just like the in the AFC West there is a real possibility a bunch of teams could win up tied at 8-8. \u00a0All the Cowboys have to do is win and their in.<\/p>\n Houston (10-4) <\/strong> – I know this might seem unfairly low but even though this team has qualified for the playoffs I don\u2019t see them having much of a chance once they get there. \u00a0T.J. Yates just isn\u2019t going to cut it.<\/p>\n Oakland (7-7) <\/strong> – They had the game won against Detroit last week but frittered it away. \u00a0Just like they did their lead in the division. \u00a0They have two division games to close, win both and they just might sneak in.<\/p>\n San Diego (7-7) <\/strong> – The Chargers are streaking right now and still have a chance to make the playoffs after being left for dead. \u00a0Twp tough road games remain though @ Detroit and @ Oakland. \u00a0If they win both they will definitely deserve to make it.<\/p>\n New York Giants (7-7) <\/strong> – You never know what you are going to get from the G-Men. \u00a0They blew a golden opportunity against rival Washington and how they might need a little help to . [soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n Philadelphia (6-8) <\/strong> – Eagles are streaking and totally exposed the Jets. \u00a0They need some help too but are still alive in the NFC East race. \u00a0Amazing, they have been written off three times already.<\/p>\n Tennessee (7-7) <\/strong> – Losing to the previously winless Colts most likely has sunk their season. \u00a0Playing Jacksonville at home might get them back in the race though. \u00a0Thats life in the crazy NFL this year.<\/p>\n Kansas City (6-8) <\/strong> – There is a very real possibility that all teams in the AFC West finish 8-8. \u00a0If so I have no idea where the Chiefs would rank in the tiebreakers. \u00a0It would be a fun result to see.<\/p>\n Chicago (7-7) <\/strong> – The math may still be saying that this team has a chance but unless they can channel Jim McMahon into one of their QBs they are done. \u00a0How come GMs never get fired mid-season?<\/p>\n Seattle (7-7) <\/strong> – They shouldn\u2019t win all of these games but Pete Carroll has instilled toughness into these guys. \u00a0I think there might still actually be some scenarios where they can make the playoffs. \u00a0Can that be?<\/p>\n Arizona (7-7) <\/strong> – They have won 4 in a row and 6 of 7. \u00a0They are at Cincy this weekend in a game the Bengals have to have. \u00a0Whichever team wins will have really turned the corner.<\/p>\n Carolina (5-9) <\/strong> – With the Panthers win last week \u00a0they are now ahead of the sinking Buccaneers. \u00a0Not bad for rookie QB Cam Newton. \u00a0That NFC south could be a monster next year and beyond.<\/p>\n Miami (5-9) <\/strong> – The Dolphins just beat the Bills and are now even with them record wise. \u00a0If Reggie Bush has finally found his way to NFL stardom than maybe this season wasn\u2019t a total waste.<\/p>\n Buffalo (5-9) <\/strong> – The losses just keep on coming for the Bills, each just a little different than the last. \u00a0It is hard to remember why management was so eager to lock up Ryan Fitzpatrick as this team hasn\u2019t won in a couple of months.<\/p>\n Washington (5-9) <\/strong> – The lone saving grace for this season for the Redskins is that they probably kept the Giants out of the playoffs by beating them twice. \u00a0That\u2019s about it.<\/p>\n Cleveland (4-10) <\/strong> – This team fights hard but is just undermanned. \u00a0They are playing out the string and should be thinking about getting one of the top QBs in the draft come the spring.<\/p>\n Tampa Bay (4-10) <\/strong> – This team should definitely be better than it is. \u00a0There are rumours coach Raheem Morris is gone. \u00a0At first I thought they were silly but he might really be in over his head.<\/p>\n Jacksonville (4-10) <\/strong> – The combination of Maurice Jones Drew and Blaine Gabbert has to be one of the starkest of recent memory. \u00a0MJD might be the best back in the league while Gabbert could easily be the worst starting QB.<\/p>\n Minnesota (2-12) <\/strong> – In any other year they would be a sure thing for the worst team after a loss to the Saints like that at home. \u00a0The only reason they aren\u2019t is out of serious respect for NO. \u00a0Nobody would have had a chance against them with Brees hot like that indoors.<\/p>\n Indianapolis Colts (1-13) <\/strong> – Yes, I have decided to give a reprieve to the Colts for finally getting into the win column.<\/p>\n St. Louis (2-12) <\/strong> – I am giving the Rams a shot at the bottom. \u00a0They will be facing an angry Steelers team on the road this Sunday with James Harrison back in the lineup. \u00a0Someone is going to get hurt.<\/p>\n The 2011 NFL Playoffs are almost here.
