Two teams heading in opposite directions meet in Chicago on Sunday with a pair of four game streaks on the line. For the Chargers, they have lost four straight games while the Bears have won four straight. <\/p>\n
SAN DIEGO CHARGERS (4-5) vs. CHICAGO BEARS (6-3)<\/strong> Chicago has beaten some good teams during their streak and now sits in a Wild Card position after starting the season 2-3 while the Chargers continue to tease its fans with wins over the bad teams and meltdowns versus the good.<\/p>\n The San Diego Chargers may have hit rock bottom on Thursday with their loss to the Oakland Raiders but a look at the numbers shows that it is no fluke that they are 4-5 and looking way up at a playoff position. During their 4 game losing streak, the offense has turned the ball over 11 times and in their last two games, the defense has given up 69 points!<\/p>\n Philip Rivers will be forced to play behind a banged up offensive line on Sunday \u2013 they are dropping like flies! Rivers has the Chargers passing offense somehow ranked 4th in the NFL but Rivers himself has thrown only 13 touchdowns versus 15 interceptions and four costly fumbles on the season. Rivers has struggled to find time and to find his receivers. <\/p>\n San Diego\u2019s running game is banged up as well and may have a difficult time on Sunday \u2013 the Bears have surrendered just 70.5 yards per game on the ground during their 4 game winning streak.<\/p>\n The Chicago Bears are on quite a roll and have won four straight games by an average of 16 points. Their ferocious defense, their special teams, their kicker, running back and quarterback are all playing at a very high level at the moment. Chicago is as complete a team as there is in the league right now. [soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n Jay Cutler and the passing game are an unflattering 21st in the NFL with 208.22 yards per game. But better O-line play has the Bears looking like one of the more balanced offenses in the game. Jay Cutler has thrown just 11 touchdowns this season but he has certainly limited his mistakes \u2013 only 6 interceptions so far. The return of Earl Bennett to the team has been a huge boost.<\/p>\n Make no mistake about it, the Bears are Matt Forte`s team. Although Chicago is 13th in the NFL in rushing, Forte has been a monster \u2013 869 yards rushing and #1 in the NFL in yards from scrimmage with 145.34 yards per game. Chicago has recommitted to the run and it has served them well.<\/p>\n Chicago`s defense has also risen to the occasion. They are currently 29th against the pass and 13th against the run. But, in their last 4 games, the Bears have been terrific -12 forced turnovers, 14 points per game allowed and 70.5 yards rushing allowed. Brian Urlacher, Julius Peppers and gang will be a handful for the Chargers for sure.<\/p>\n Betting Prediction:<\/strong> The San Diego Chargers are just 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games on the road and are 2-4 SU in their last six away from home. The Chargers are 1-4 SU and ATS in their last five games against the Bears. Chicago is 5-1 SU in their last six games and is 4-0 ATS in their last four. The Bears are 4-1 SU in their last five games at home and are 6-1 ATS in their last seven as a home favourite.<\/p>\n Chicago matches up very well with the Chargers. San Diego had a miserable time with Oakland`s defense and Chicago is twice the D-unit that the Raiders are. They do everything better than Oakland! Also, Chicago`s running game is peaking at the moment and the Chargers defences has been shredded by opposing running backs. Running the ball serves to gain yards and keep Philip Rivers and gang off the field. Chicago is too hot and San Diego is too cold for me to pick an upset in this one.
