The Kentucky Wildcats cannot be too excited about the prospect of travelling to Athens to do battle with one of the hottest teams in the country. <\/p>\n
Sanford Stadium, Athens GA The home side Georgia Bulldogs are dismantling opponents lately, with the latest victim being a decent, Top 25-ranked Auburn team \u2013 a team that was simply the National Champion just last season.<\/p>\n \u2019Dawgs QB Aaron Murray is on a tear, throwing nine first-half TD passes in his last two games. Murray tossed for four scores in the 45-7 trouncing of Auburn last Saturday; everything is clicking Between the Hedges lately. Georgia has been on a tear since opening the season with two consecutive losses. The \u2019Dawgs followed up a victory over rival Florida three weeks ago by outscoring their competition 108-23 over the past two games. Needless to say, no one wants to play Georgia right now, especially in the hostile confines of Sanford Stadium.<\/p>\n For Kentucky\u2019s part, a cluster of injuries for various starters on offense exacerbates a tough season. Starting pivot Morgan Newton has been out with ankle and throwing shoulder ailments. Back-up QB Maxwell Smith has played well enough that there is open QB competition in Lexington now, even though Newton is still listed as \u201cQuestionable\u201d for this week. <\/p>\n The RB position has also been decimated \u2013 starter Josh Clemons is out for the year, while back-up Raymond Sanders has not played for the last three weeks and is still listed as \u201cQuestionable\u201d. <\/p>\n Third-stringer CoShik Williams will get the lion\u2019s share of the carries. The only reliable component on offense for the Wildcats in 2011 has been WR LaRod King, who has 39 receptions for nearly 600 yards and seven TDs. Kentucky had a nice win against Ole Miss a couple weeks ago, but then again, so has everyone else in the conference. Other than that, it\u2019s been a trying year in the Bluegrass State.<\/p>\n Perhaps the best Kentucky can ask for is the prolonged decent play of Smith and Williams in the backfield, to simply give the beleaguered Wildcats some options as players come back from injury next season. <\/p>\n Kentucky was often an overachiever under former head coach Rich Brooks, but it has been a bit of a tough slog under new head man Joker Phillips. [soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n Factoring in the combination of the struggles on both sides of the ball and the barrage of injuries, Kentucky really stands no chance this week on the road against the white-hot Bulldogs. Georgia destroyed a good Auburn team and took an impressive Tigers\u2019 run game (Auburn\u2019s charge led by Michael Dyer and Onterio McCalebb) and reduced it to a whimpering kitten. <\/p>\n Murray is commanding the offense with aplomb, rookie WR Malcolm Mitchell is back from injury with a vengeance, he buttresses TE Orson Charles, freshman RB Isaiah Crowell and an impressive defensive back seven led by the rejuvenated LB Alec Ogletree and DB Bacarri Rambo.<\/p>\n If the cries for head coach Mark Richt to be fired were rampant just several weeks ago, they have, not surprisingly, receded. Georgia is playing great football with a true leader under center, a legitimate young stud SEC running back in Crowell, a huge offensive line, targets in the receiving game and speed all over the defense. <\/p>\n The Bulldogs are in the driver\u2019s seat in the SEC East division and the Kentucky Wildcats are not a team to derail them.<\/p>\n Score Prediction: Georgia 42, Kentucky 10<\/strong> The CappersPicks.com college football weekly predictions pages!
