One week after the death of Al Davis, the Oakland Raiders (3-2) return home to take on the Cleveland Brown (2-2). To say that the already certifiably insane Raiders fans will be in a frenzy is a bit of an understatement. Despite the loss of Davis, the Raiders have been playing well and are starting to gel as a team. Last week they won a hard fought match up against the Houston Texans in Houston. That win came despite some pretty sloppy play from the men in black. <\/p>\n Oakland quarterback Jason Campbell only completed 15-35 for 190 yards and threw one pick. But he also threw two touchdowns and that made all the difference. Campbell seems to be going hot and cold this year. Two weeks ago he threw for 344 yards against Patriots, but only threw for 156 against the Jets in week 2. <\/p>\n But Campbell wasn\u2019t the only Raider who turned in a so-so performance on Sunday. Matt Schuab threw for 403 yards and two touchdowns against the Raider defense in that outing. The upside for Oakland\u2019s defense is that they held the Texans to a miserly 70 rushing yards and forced two turnovers. <\/p>\n The Browns, however, are not going to be in a position to level any criticism at their counterparts in black and silver. Two weeks ago, Tennessee quarterback Matt Hasselbeck put up some big yards on the Cleveland pass defense and it\u2019s something they\u2019ve, hopefully, worked on during the bye week. The Titans won that game 31-13.<\/p>\n If there was a bright spot in the Tennessee loss, it was the tough, gritty play from Browns quarterback Colt McCoy. He went 40-61 with 350 yards and one touchdown. All that came despite being sacked three times and throwing one pick. McCoy spent much of that afternoon scrambling around the pocket and he can expect more of the same this week. [soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n Despite some stellar play from McCoy, Cleveland really doesn\u2019t have much to build on this season. Sure they\u2019ve put two wins, but look at who they beat, the Colts and the Dolphins. Neither one of these teams have won a single game as the season (and they only beat Miami by one lousy point).<\/p>\n The Browns have also yet to see much action out of star running back Peyton Hillis. Between health issues and contract problems, he\u2019s not been much of presence this season. He\u2019s only carried the ball 54 times for 197 yards and two touchdowns. At this pace, he\u2019s unlikely to match the 1,177 yards he ran last season. <\/p>\n Playing in Oakland is a tough prospect any time of the year. But when you take into account the Davis death factor and the confidence building Houston win, the Raiders have got a lot going for them. Cleveland, on the other hand, doesn\u2019t have much to play for or with.
