2011 NFL Football Power Ratings<\/h2>\n

Each week during the heart of the NFL season, and once or twice during the NFL Preseason, we\u2019ll gather the troops around the roundtable and hash out the\u00a0NFL Power rankings<\/strong><\/a>. We check out the stats, looks at the records, and, most importantly, we take a close, close look at the heart of each team. <\/p>\n

Best performance Week 2<\/strong> \u2013 Bills over the Raiders. We now know they play hard, they can score and they don\u2019t get intimidated when they fall behind.
\nWorst performance Week 2<\/strong> \u2013 Kansas City loses to the Lions by 45 after losing opening day by 34.
\nBest game Week 3<\/strong> \u2013 Houston (2-0) at New Orleans (1-1). Texans will establish street cred with win in the Dome.
\nWorst game Week 3<\/strong> \u2013 Kansas City (0-2) at San Diego (1-1). Chargers will be in a foul mood after that loss in Foxboro.<\/p>\n

  1. Green Bay Packers (2-0)<\/strong> \u2013 Underappreciated Donald Driver now owns the Green Bay record for career receiving yards.<\/li>\n
  2. New England Patriots (2-0)<\/strong> \u2013 Only concern here is about defense. No one is sure if Pats can win a 14-10 game. With Brady that isn\u2019t necessary very often.<\/li>\n
  3. New York Jets (2-0)<\/strong> \u2013 NYJ will spend the next month without a home game (at Oakland, at Baltimore, at New England). They don\u2019t seem too bothered by road games, but those three look particularly nasty.<\/li>\n
  4. Philadelphia Eagles (1-1)<\/strong> \u2013 Book on Eagles defense is now spread out the offense as wide as possible and attack in the middle of the field.<\/li>\n
  5. New Orleans Saints (1-1)<\/strong> \u2013 Want to know why placekickers don\u2019t make the big money? John Kasay, out of a job late in August, was signed as an injury replacement and is now 5 for 5 on field goal tries, including one 53-yarder. Supply and demand.<\/li>\n
  6. Houston Texans (2-0)<\/strong> \u2013 You have to think that those cranky old 1974 Dolphins aren\u2019t too concerned about the Texans running the table this year.<\/li>\n
  7. Baltimore Ravens (1-1)<\/strong> \u2013 Looks like that emotional win over the Steelers took quite a bit out of the Ravens, who looked flat against the Titans.<\/li>\n
  8. San Diego Chargers (1-1)<\/strong> \u2013 I look at Norv Turner and see Ray Bolger in the Wizard of Oz. Face, demeanor . . . everything.<\/li>\n
  9. Detroit Lions (2-0)<\/strong> \u2013 Hard to believe, but the Lions haven\u2019t lost a game since last Christmas Eve. Seven in a row (including exhibitions). They also have covered the number in all seven games.<\/li>\n
  10. Chicago Bears (1-1)<\/strong> \u2013 If looks could kill, Jay Cutler would be being booked today after the O-line hung him out to dry in New Orleans. At least the Bears could have checked for IDs as the Saints took turns setting up legal residence in the Chicago backfield.<\/li>\n
  11. Pittsburgh Steelers (1-1)<\/strong> \u2013 Picked these guys at home against the Seahawks in my survivor pool. There was nothing to worry about.<\/li>\n
  12. Buffalo Bills (2-0)<\/strong> \u2013 New England at home this Sunday in what may be the biggest game in Buffalo in about a decade.<\/li>\n
  13. Atlanta Falcons (1-1)<\/strong> \u2013 Dunta Robinson says there was nothing wrong with that hit on Jeremy Maclin. The NFL gave him 40,000 reasons to indicate otherwise.<\/li>\n
  14. Washington Redskins (2-0)<\/strong> \u2013 Right now the NFC East standings look like they\u2019ve been turned upside down. Four of the Skins\u2019 next five are on the road.<\/li>\n
  15. Dallas Cowboys (1-1)<\/strong> \u2013 Tony Romo played with a collapsed lung and fractured rib against the 49ers. Wonder how long J.D. Drew would have been out with the same injuries.<\/li>\n
  16. Tennessee Titans (1-1)<\/strong> \u2013 Yes, QBs are putting up ridiculous numbers these days, but give Matt Hasselbeck credit. In two weeks he\u2019s thrown for 621 total yards. And he has a victory over Baltimore. With Manning likely cooked for the year, maybe there\u2019s an opening for the Titans in the weakened AFC South.<\/li>\n
  17. New York Giants (1-1)<\/strong> \u2013 1-1 will become 3-3, will become 6-6, will become 8-8. Giants are in the mushy middle.<\/li>\n
  18. Arizona Cardinals (1-1)<\/strong> \u2013 Nice start for Kolb, who is now fifth in the league in QB rating after decent game against Carolina and Washington. But Jason Campbell is 10th<\/sup> and Alex Smith is 11th<\/sup>, so it\u2019s way too early to get carried away. If he can survive back-to-back games against Pittsburgh and Baltimore in late October, the rest of the schedule isn\u2019t too difficult.<\/li>\n

  19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-1)<\/strong> \u2013 Props to the Bucs, who held Adrian Peterson to 37 yards on 10 carries in the second half during TB\u2019s win. Big game this weekend at home against Atlanta.<\/li>\n
  20. Miami Dolphins (0-2)<\/strong> \u2013 Tony Sparano says he has no answers for what ails the Dolphins. Just a wild guess, but that might not be good for job security.<\/li>\n
  21. Minnesota Vikings (0-2)<\/strong> \u2013 It\u2019s a quarterback\/passing league, and if statistics are a guide, 29 other QBs are better than Donovan McNabb. Not hard to connect the dots in Minneapolis.<\/li>\n
  22. Oakland Raiders (1-1)<\/strong> \u2013 Raiders blame the refs for their last-minute loss to the Bills. They also blame for the refs for the high unemployment rate, global warming and Hurricane Irene.<\/li>\n
  23. San Francisco 49ers (1-1)<\/strong> \u2013 Tony Romo spits the bit against every team in the league, then beats the Niners in overtime. As Nancy Kerrigan put it, \u201cWhy me?\u201d<\/li>\n
  24. Seattle Seahawks (0-2)<\/strong> \u2013 Traditionally one of the NFL\u2019s worst road teams, the Seahawks started with two straight away from home. Carroll hopes to build momentum with three of next four in Seattle.<\/li>\n
  25. Jacksonville Jaguars (1-1)<\/strong> \u2013 OK, the Jets D is good. We get that. But how does Luke McCown keep his job after four interceptions?<\/li>\n
  26. Cincinnati Bengals (1-1)<\/strong> \u2013 Odd situation with Carson Palmer, who seems intent on sitting out the season and the Bengals just as intent on letting him do just that.<\/li>\n
  27. Carolina Panthers (0-2)<\/strong> \u2013 The era of the two-headed running back in Carolina (Stewart\/Williams) is officially over. This is Cam\u2019s team now.<\/li>\n
  28. St. Louis Rams (0-2)<\/strong> \u2013 That\u2019s it for Monday night, boys. Back in the closet until you become respectable.<\/li>\n
  29. Cleveland Browns (1-1)<\/strong> \u2013 OK, the schedule comes out last spring and fans look at it and see Week 2 at Indy. How many figured Browns would be favored, would win and would cover the spread?<\/li>\n
  30. Denver Broncos (1-1)<\/strong> \u2013 Fans continue to whine for Tebow, but QB may be the only position that the Broncos haven\u2019t been hit by injuries.<\/li>\n
  31. Indianapolis Colts (0-2)<\/strong> \u2013 Anyone still think that Manning wasn\u2019t worth that much of a drain on the salary cap?<\/li>\n
  32. Kansas City Chiefs (0-2)<\/strong> \u2013 What happened to these guys? Weren\u2019t they running downhill with a tailwind last year? Now Jamaal Charles is out for the season. Know that brother-in-law who\u2019s been nagging you for Chiefs tickets? This is the year to give them to him.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
