A week after their BCS Championship hopes could have very well been swept out of the door, Oregon will face the Nevada Wolf Pack, who finished 13-1 in 2010, and wants to come out in their first game of the season with a bang. A win over Oregon could be the bang they are looking for. <\/p>\n
Wolf Pack vs. Ducks Oregon seemingly said goodbye to their BCS hopes, as well as running back LaMichael James\u2019 Heisman aspirations last week when they were crushed by the LSU Tigers 40-27 in the 2011 edition of the Cowboy Classic.<\/p>\n Now, in their second week of the year, the Ducks will face the Nevada Wolf Pack, who had a great season in 2010 and returns 14 starters (although quarterback Colin Kaepernick is not one of them).<\/p>\n Oregon mustn\u2019t go into this game thinking the Wolf Pack will be a pushover, because if they do, and they lose, they will be throwing away any BCS Bowl chances.<\/p>\n Ducks’ quarterback Darron Thomas had a decent game against LSU, but the majority of his stats came after the team was chasing the Tigers, and if they want to be successful against Nevada, they will have to jump out of the gate with some offensive production early on. <\/p>\n James will need to show the country he\u2019s for real also, if they want any chance at beating Nevada, and he likely will. He rushed for just 54 yards against LSU on 18 carries, and if the offense wants to have any type of success, he will need to be rolling on all cylinders come Saturday. [soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n James is a beast, especially when playing lower-tiered defenses, and there shouldn\u2019t be any doubt that he can rebound to lead Oregon to a victory.<\/p>\n If James does what I think he will do, Nevada will have to be explosive on offense to keep up with Oregon\u2019s multi-faceted offense. The possibility of that happening lies solely on new fifth-year-senior quarterback Tyler Lantrip. <\/p>\n Lantrip has the tools to be an elite Division-I quarterback, but just hasn\u2019t had the chance to prove it. He did see action in six games in 2010, completing 8-of-13 for 155 yards and his first career touchdown, which came against Idaho. Lantrip also ran the ball 16 times for 46 yards and another score, which came against Utah State.<\/p>\n Over is 7-3 in NEV last 10 road games.
