A crucial NFC West game in Week 1? You bet! The Seattle Seahawks visit the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday afternoon with the aim of getting a leg up in their own weak division. <\/p>\n
Seattle Seahawks (0-0) at San Francisco 49ers (0-0) Seriously folks, one win will be the difference between making the playoffs and not. Plenty of question marks surround both teams heading into Sunday making for a somewhat intriguing matchup.<\/p>\n Pete Carroll showed last season that he is not afraid to make the occasional roster move and this season is no different. Out is Matt Hasselbeck and in are names like Tavaris Jackson, Sidney Rice, Zach Miller and Robert Gallery. Will it be enough to take Seattle over the smallish hump that is the NFC West? Probably not this season.<\/p>\n Seattle will start Tavaris Jackson as their quarterback on Sunday despite looking absolutely brutal during the preseason. Hopes are that Marshawn Lynch can find his form although he has averaged just 3.9 yards per carry during his career. High price acquisition Sidney Rice hasn\u2019t played a whole lot this preseason and chemistry between Jackson and Stud Tight End Zach Miller has yet to develop. Offensively, Seattle appears as though they could use another two weeks of training camp \u2013 not a good sign heading into Week 1. Rookie Coach Jim Harbaugh will try to draw something out of Alex Smith \u2013 something that absolutely no coach before has been able to do. Smith will start and hand the ball off to possibly one of the most gifted yet injury prone runners in the game \u2013 Frank Gore. When Smith throws the ball, he will have new toy Braylon Edwards, returning players Michael Crabtree and Vernon Davis at his disposal. On paper, San Fran\u2019s offense looks fine but we\u2019ve heard it all before.<\/p>\n Betting Prediction:<\/strong> These two teams split their two meetings last season, each winning at home. I think home field advantage continues on Sunday. Not only does San Francisco have Frank Gore but they also have their amped home crowd and dominant, game changing Linebacker Patrick Willis (277 solo tackles in three seasons).
