Now with an improved team nothing less than a Super Bowl win will satisfy the team and their fans. <\/p>\n So how will they fare in the most unpredictable NFL season in recent memory?<\/p>\n Offensively the Falcons appear absolutely set. Matt Ryan, fresh off a season in which he threw for over 3700 yards and 28 touchdowns gets a new toy in the form of Julio Jones \u2013 undoubtedly the best pass catching option to come out of college in the last few years. He and Roddy White instantly make up one of the most feared receiving duos in the game. Along with Tony Gonzalez the passing game could emerge as one of the better units in the game.<\/p>\n The Falcons still possess arguably the best power runner in the game in the form of Michael Turner. Turner and rookie Jacquizz Rodgers makes the Falcons the best balanced offensive team in the NFL. The goal (at risk of sounding like a broken record) is to limit Turner\u2019s touches, keep him fresh and off the injury report at the end of the season. <\/p>\n Turner followed up an insanely busy 2009 season with another 356 touches last season. It will have to be the defense that steps up and takes this team to another level.<\/p>\n Defense was the Achilles heel of the Falcons last season and strangely, they failed to address their needs during the draft. Have no fear Falcons fans, Free Agency has filled some of the holes. Ray Edwards was added via Free Agency. He joins John Abraham to form a very formidable, young pass rush. <\/p>\n This team was stout against the run last season but gave up far too many plays down field. Hopes are that the duo of Edwards and Abraham will somewhat disguise the issues that the Falcons still have in their secondary.<\/p>\n The Falcons will enter the 2011 season in unfamiliar territory \u2013 as the hunted instead of the hunter. They definitely will not slip under the radar this season. The problem for the Falcons is that they play in one of the two or three toughest divisions in the NFL \u2013 New Orleans is good and Tampa Bay is no longer a pushover. <\/p>\n Atlanta figures to be a very good team that much is true. But are they great yet? My feeling is that they are a year away and that there is still a better team within their division. <\/p>\n I like the Falcons to make the playoffs but to have a more difficult time as the hunted.
