Questionable moves, such as adding Terrell Owens to a team that already had Chad Johnson, did not pan out and for the fourth time in the past five years, the Bengals failed to win more than eight games. This only adds to the dubious legacy of a franchise that has had two winning seasons in the past 20 years.<\/p>\n Both Owens and Johnson are gone, but the biggest problem facing this team heading into the 2011 season is at the quarterback position. So far, Carson Palmer has held firm in his threat to retire is he was not traded, and rock-headed team owner Mike Brown has indicated that he has no intention to try and add some value to his team by getting something in return for a player that no longer wants to be in Cincinnati. <\/p>\n Enter rookie QB Andy Dalton, from TCU as the heir apparent to Palmers\u2019 starting job. Even under the best of circumstances, this would be a tough transition, but given current talent level of this offensive squad, putting Dalton in this position could be considered downright criminal. [soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n At least he will have another rookie to throw the ball to with the selection of WR A.J. Green with the fourth overall pick in the draft.<\/p>\n The Bengals\u2019 defense was nothing to write home about last season, finishing the year ranked 15th in total yards allowed, but 24th in points allowed. It took a hit it did not need last week when cornerback Jonathan Joseph jumped ship to sign with Houston. <\/p>\n They were able to replace him with 10-year veteran Nate Clements, who was recently released by San Francisco, but they still came out on the losing end in that exchange.<\/p>\n Everything points to a disastrous season for Cincinnati at this point.
