For years, the SEC rolled out clusters of powerhouse programs in both divisions. <\/p>\n
2011-2012 SEC | Georgia Bulldogs Football Preview<\/strong> Lately, though, it seems the SEC West has taken a decent leap ahead of the East; the West features teams like Alabama, LSU, Arkansas and last year\u2019s champ Auburn, while I am talking about a team that was below .500 last year potentially winning the East division crown.<\/p>\n All the same, the Bulldogs ought to be much better this season. There has been talk of Richt\u2019s seat getting warm, but he is a good coach and a master motivator; recent stumblings had more to do with Georgia needing to go through a re-load phase. Led by sophomore and returning starter QB Aaron Murray, Georgia will be a team to take notice of in 2011.<\/p>\n Team Strengths<\/strong><\/p>\n Murray possesses all the tools to be a damn near elite college pivot. This position has a high pedigree at Georgia with alumni like David Greene, Eric Zeier and Matt Stafford, but Murray could add himself to that list when all is said and done.<\/p>\n The Bulldogs don\u2019t have the best defense in the SEC, but it is sprinkled with all-conference mentions like DT DeAngelo Tyson, LB Christian Robinson, CB Brandon Boykin and DB Bacarri Rambo (great name!)<\/p>\n Georgia\u2019s receiver corps is depleted, but WR Tavarres King and TE Orson Charles are still fantastic targets for Murray.<\/p>\n Finally, UGA might have the best special teams duo in the NCAA, with kicker Blair Walsh and P Drew Butler, both seniors.<\/p>\n Team Weaknesses<\/strong><\/p>\n As I just mentioned, Georgia\u2019s crop of wideouts are victims of attrition. Outstanding WR A.J. Green was a Top 10 NFL draft pick, and Kris Durham also got drafted to the pros. Logan Gray also departs. [soliloquy id=”82219″]<\/p>\n Leading rusher Washaun Ealey decided to transfer, but Georgia should be OK with veteran Caleb King and super frosh Isaiah Crowell (rated as the #4 RB in the nation\u2019s recruiting crop).<\/p>\n Georgia must replace three of its starting four linebackers from last year, but the program often has the athletes to reach into the cupboard and plug in, whereby the Bulldogs won\u2019t lose much production.<\/p>\n 2011 Georgia Football Prediction: 10-3<\/strong><\/p>\n Georgia will be better than 6-7 this year regardless, but the level of its success will be tied up in the progression of Murray and the ability for several talented yet unproven players to assert themselves on both sides of the ball. \u00a0The veterans that do remain \u2013 Tyson, Boykin, King, C Ben Jones \u2013 must set a good example for the younger players.<\/p>\n Georgia should continue to improve beyond this season, but with a weak SEC East division this year, I could see the Bulldogs taking a large enough jump to represent the East in the SEC title game in Atlanta.<\/p>\n Even if that only ends up being a spanking courtesy of Alabama or LSU, that still would be a season worth celebrating in Athens.<\/p>\n 2011 Georgia Bulldogs Schedule<\/strong><\/p>\n 9\/3\/11 8:00 PM ET BOIST
