Canadian Football Pre-Season Update – CFL Power Rankings<\/h2>\n

(Rankings as of June 22nd) — The first week of CFL preseason is in the bag. Let\u2019s shuffle the deck and lay out our first CFL power rankings of the season. <\/p>\n

1. B.C. Lions<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Lions jumped all over last year\u2019s regular-season West champions, swamping Calgary 24-0. The \u201cD\u201d was spectacular, holding Calgary to just 187 yards from scrimmage. <\/p>\n

After squeaking into the playoffs last season, B.C. could threaten for the West title in 2011.<\/p>\n

2. Toronto Argonauts<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cleo Lemon and Dalton Bell are duelling for the starting quarterback gig, and both looked good in a 31-12 romp over Hamilton in the preseason opener. Lemon was 11-for-15 for 30 yards and a touchdown. Bell went 9-for-15 for 189 yards and a score. \"\"<\/p>\n

3. Montreal Alouettes<\/strong><\/p>\n

The reigning Grey Cup champs cruised to a 27-15 victory over Winnipeg in their preseason opener. Even with Anthony Calvillo resting, the Alouettes were explosive through the air\u2014and they might have discovered some new weapons. <\/p>\n

Brandon London and Bo Bowling combined for 13 catches, 212 yards and two scores.<\/p>\n

4. Saskatchewan Rough Riders<\/strong><\/p>\n

Saskatchewan faces the tough task of replacing receivers Andy Fantuz and Robb Bagg. Patrick Brown hauled in a 50-yard score in a 23-22 win over Edmonton last week, but there are still plenty of questions to be answered.<\/p>\n

5. Edmonton Eskimos<\/strong><\/p>\n

Could Edmonton be ready to rebound from last year\u2019s dismal season? The Esks kept it close with Saskatchewan, but Kerry Joseph was disappointing in the first game of his comeback attempt (3-for-9, 32 yards). [ad-4437448]<\/p>\n

6. Calgary Stampeders<\/strong><\/p>\n

It doesn\u2019t get much uglier than last week\u2019s 24-0 loss. The offense was a complete disaster, and the defense was carved through the air, allowing 219 yards and three touchdowns. <\/p>\n

Count on a bounce-back performance this week.<\/p>\n

7. Hamilton Tiger-Cats<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s hardly time to panic, even with a 31-12 to bitter rival Toronto. Starting quarterback Quinton Porter was sat after the first quarter, and he\u2019ll certainly lead the offense to more impressive numbers when he goes wire-to-wire.<\/p>\n

8. Winnipeg Blue Bombers<\/strong><\/p>\n

After winning just four games and finishing as the CFL’s worst team in 2010, Winnipeg is off to an auspicious start this season. The Bombers have already lost both preseason games, and with a lack of star power at quarterback, it looks like the Bombers will once again be fighting for a spot in the cellar.<\/p>\n
