The Boston Red Sox are peaking at the right time for an important weekend showdown with the Toronto Blue Jays, who always seem to play them tough at the Rogers Centre. <\/p>\n

They\u2019ve been shut out twice and scored two runs or fewer five times over that span.<\/p>\n Asdrubal Cabrera continues to have a career year, sitting at .302 with 12 homers and 42 RBI through 60 games, but he needs some help. Shin-Soo Choo and Carlos Santana were supposed to be this team\u2019s offensive leaders and neither guy has snapped out of his season-long funk, though Santana is still getting on base thanks to his absurd walk rate.<\/p>\n Mitch Talbot doesn\u2019t pick his spots. Four of his five starts this season have been against Boston (twice), Toronto and Texas, and he\u2019s survived save for one eight-run beating the second time he battled the Red Sox. Maybe he\u2019s mentally ready for the Yankees? [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]<\/p>\n New York Yankees (33-26)<\/strong> It should surprise no bettor that the Yankees lead the majors in runs scored and homers. Few if any teams can match their power. But it really surprises me to see that they have the ninth-best ERA in baseball. Pitching was supposed to be their Achilles heel this season, wasn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n Enter Bartolo Colon. He continues to show off the effects of his bizarre, stem-cell shoulder surgery. Consistency hasn\u2019t been his forte but his control has been excellent and he\u2019s turned in many a quality start.<\/p>\n
