Take Tuesday\u2019s probable starter, Rick Porcello. Sometimes we forget that he\u2019s just 22 years old and has plenty of time to become a star. Maybe it shouldn\u2019t be a huge shocker that he\u2019s allowed two earned runs or fewer in seven of his last eight starts. He\u2019ll never be overpowering and he may always have trouble with the gopher ball but Porcello could have a nice career as a pitch-to-contact guy with great control.<\/p>\n Can he survive a trip to Texas? On one hand, he\u2019s 3-1 with a 2.39 ERA on the road this season. On the other, the Rangers rocked him for six runs and 10 hits in four innings the only other time he faced them in his career.<\/p>\n Texas Rangers (34-26 through June 5)<\/strong> Whereas Porcello\u2019s development accompanies a prospect pedigree, Matt Harrison continues to baffle me. [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]<\/p>\n It looked like he was crashing back to Earth in early May; then, over his last two starts, he threw 14.1 scoreless innings. The guy only struck out four <\/em>batters over that span. He\u2019s like Porcello \u2013 but with more walks. So how is he good?<\/p>\n Harrison has a brutal track record against Detroit, going 1-2 with a 7.17 ERA and five homers allowed over just 21 innings. Ryan Raburn absolutely demolishes him, going 5 for 7 (.714) with two homers and five RBI all-time.<\/p>\n MLB Trends:<\/strong><\/p>\n Over is 8-1-1 in DET last 10 Tue. games. The pick:<\/strong><\/p>\n The most important bet you can make tonight is the OVER. Porcello and Harrison could be primed to serve up platters of gopher balls tonight. All the righthanded Texas power bats (Beltre, Cruz, Young, Kinsler) should scare Porcello. Harrison has been brutal against Detroit in his career but the current Harrison looks like a new beast and Texas\u2019 lineup is just much more potent. Go with the home team.<\/p>\n
