Let\u2019s have a look at the early Week 1 odds and make some (very) tentative picks.<\/p>\n<h3>THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 8<\/h3>\n<p><strong>New Orleans Saints @ Green Bay Packers<\/strong><br \/>\nNFL betting favorite: Packers -5<\/p>\n<p>Forget Aaron Rodgers and the Packers\u2019 offense for a second. The Saints should worry more about the young, ferocious, improving Packer \u201cD,\u201d especially with Drew Brees returning from a knee injury. The 2010 champs may overwhelm the 2009 champs.<\/p>\n<p>Pick: Packers -5<\/p>\n<h3>SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 11<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Ravens<\/strong><br \/>\nNFL betting favorite: Ravens -3<\/p>\n<p>The Steelers may be amped to have a full season of Big Ben. Maybe he\u2019ll work hard this offseason and start 2011 in midseason form?<\/p>\n<p>Pick: Steelers +3<\/p>\n<p><strong>Detroit Lions @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers<\/strong><br \/>\nNFL betting favorite: Buccaneers -3<\/p>\n<p>Both these teams are hot sleepers this season but the Bucs are further ahead and Detroit\u2019s offense is still a work in progress.<\/p>\n<p>Pick: Buccaneers -3<\/p>\n<p><strong>Atlanta Falcons @ Chicago Bears<\/strong><br \/>\nNFL betting favorite: Bears -1<\/p>\n<p>Jay Cutler may open this season on a mission but there are few teams I like more than Atlanta for 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Pick: Falcons +1<\/p>\n<p><strong>Buffalo Bills @ Kansas City Chiefs <\/strong><br \/>\nNFL betting favorite: Chiefs -6.5<\/p>\n<p>A 6.5-point line in Week 1 is pretty frightening. But I really do like the Chiefs\u2019 chances of being an elite offensive team again this season. Maybe they\u2019ll rout the lowly Bills?<\/p>\n<p>Pick: Chiefs -6.5<\/p>\n<p><strong>Indianapolis Colts @ Houston Texans<\/strong><br \/>\nNFL betting favorite: Colts -1<\/p>\n<p>We all know how Houston likes to tease us and how they made a statement early in the season against Indy last year. David Garrard should retain the job for at least a little while and he should outgun the rookie Locker.<\/p>\n<p>Pick: Jaguars -2.5<\/p>\n<p><strong>New York Giants @ Washington Redskins<\/strong><br \/>\nNFL betting favorite: Giants -3<\/p>\n<p>Who will take snaps for Washington? No idea. Meanwhile, the Giants \u201cD\u201d could improve immediately after their solid draft. This could be a blowout.<\/p>\n<p>Pick: Giants -3<\/p>\n<p><strong>Carolina Panthers @ Arizona Cardinals <\/strong><br \/>\nNFL betting favorite: Cardinals -3<\/p>\n<p>Is there a chance that teams will have to adjust to Cam Newton and not vise-versa? Maybe his athleticism will catch Arizona off guard in Week 1.<\/p>\n<p>Pick: Panthers +3<\/p>\n<p><strong>Seattle Seahawks @ San Francisco 49ers<\/strong><br \/>\nNFL betting favorite: 49ers -6<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t think the Niners have forgotten about the humiliation Seattle gave them in Week 1 last year. Time for revenge.<\/p>\n<p>Pick: 49ers -6<\/p>\n<p><strong>Minnesota Vikings @ San Diego Chargers<\/strong><br \/>\nNFL betting favorite: Chargers -9.5<\/p>\n<p>I don\u2019t care if Christian Ponder is a rookie. A 9.5-point spread in Week 1 is just silly. The Vikings still have enough playmakers on both sides of the ball to stay within 10 points, for cryin\u2019 out loud.<\/p>\n<p>Pick: Vikings +9.5<\/p>\n<p><strong>Dallas Cowboys @ New York Jets <\/strong><br \/>\nNFL betting favorite: Jets -4<\/p>\n<p>I think karma will bite the brash, overconfident Jets back at home. The Cowboys are primed for a rebound under Jason Garrett. I like them to make a statement on the road.<\/p>\n<p>Pick: Cowboys +4<\/p>\n<h3>MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 12<\/h3>\n<p><strong>New England Patriots @ Miami Dolphins<\/strong><br \/>\nNFL betting favorite: Patriots -4<\/p>\n<p>I know Miami would love some revenge after the Pats embarrassed them last year but I don\u2019t think it\u2019s in the cards. New England is too good.<\/p>\n<p>Pick: Patriots -4<\/p>\n<p><strong>Oakland Raiders @ Denver Broncos<\/strong><br \/>\nNFL betting favorite: Broncos -1.5<\/p>\n<p>Could this be the week\u2019s closest game?
