Facing the Yankees in the Bronx on the national stage for Sunday Night Baseball <\/em>can be an intimidating thing but I wouldn\u2019t count on Jon Lester to feel too rattled taking the hill for the 8:05 start. In 12 career starts against the Bronx Bombers, he\u2019s lost once, winning six times and striking out 80 Yankees in 74 innings.<\/p>\n

At Yankee Stadium, Lester has a 2.73 lifetime ERA and holds New York to a .223 average. He gets the better of them more often than not \u2013 except for Alex Rodriguez. A-Rod has three homers and six RBI over 26 career at-bats against Lester with a .964 OPS.<\/p>\n

New York Yankees (20-15 through May 12)<\/strong>
\nFreddy Garcia (2-2, 2.61)<\/p>\n

As much as A-Rod smashes the ball against Lester, is he in position to do much on Sunday night? He\u2019s batting just .209 with one homer in 11 games this month. With Robinson Cano also possibly not playing at 100 per cent after the beaning he took earlier this week, another Yankee needs to step up. Curtis Granderson is hot but the lefty Lester has his number. Nick Swisher is really overdue. He has just two homers in 34 games after smacking 29 in each of the last two seasons.<\/p>\n

Are the Yankees in good hands with Freddy Garcia on the hill against Boston? You wouldn\u2019t think so, but he\u2019s been more than serviceable for them. The vet didn\u2019t allow a run over his first two outings this season and has three quality starts in five tries.<\/p>\n

It looks like Freddy might be due to take a beating. I wonder if Adrian Gonzalez is the man for the job. He has six homers over his last nine games and has crushed right-handed pitching for a .362 average this season.<\/p>\n

I smell a blowout. Lester always stays cool and collected against the Yankees, Boston is due to bust out of its slump and Garcia is due for a stinker.<\/p>\n
