The next instalment of the MLB power rankings is here! In case you\u2019re new to reading power rankings, the main principles to know are that (a) they reflect relative strength of a team and (b) they\u2019ll diverge from the standings more as the season progresses. Let\u2019s get to it.<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve seen mostly unprecedented league parity but another theme is prevalent this week: the top of the National League East is starting to look like the class of baseball.<\/p>\n

1. (1) Cleveland Indians (23-11): <\/strong>Will the bottom ever fall out? Grady Sizemore keeps flashing the power he once had and super prospect Carlos Santana has shown signs of snapping out of his slump. The honeymoon may continue for a while.<\/p>\n

2. (2) Philadelphia Phillies (23-12): <\/strong>The Domonic Brown wait is almost over. He\u2019ll arrive in the bigs any day now \u2013 probably for good. And the Phillies could really use his offense.<\/p>\n

3. (4) Florida Marlins (21-14): <\/strong>Wasn\u2019t Gaby Sanchez\u2019s offensive upside supposed to be Mark Grace? It\u2019s looking more like Adrian Gonzalez these days.<\/p>\n

4.(3) \u00a0New York Yankees (20-13): <\/strong>Rafael Soriano\u2019s injury woes mean the Yanks suddenly lack a safety net for ancient Mariano Rivera.<\/p>\n

5. (6) St. Louis Cardinals (21-15): <\/strong>Lance Berkman is 3 for 17 since David Freese hit the DL. Was Freese the unsung hero of the Cardinals\u2019 offense?<\/p>\n

6. (11) Atlanta Braves (20-17): <\/strong>Atlanta has to hope Jason Heyward\u2019s shoulder injury isn\u2019t serious, as the Braves\u2019 bats were really starting to come around.<\/p>\n

7. (7) Tampa Bay Rays (20-15): <\/strong>Evan Longoria returned and immediately started knocking in runs. Ben Zobrist, you can take a break now.<\/p>\n

8. (10). Los Angeles Angels (21-16): <\/strong>Is the Mike Trout watch officially on now that Vernon Wells (mercifully) is on the DL?<\/p>\n

9. (16) Cincinnati Reds (20-16): <\/strong>Travis Wood is surging back toward last year\u2019s form on the mound and, since the Reds haven\u2019t stopped hitting, it makes sense to see them climb up the standings.<\/p>\n

10. (15) San Francisco Giants (19-16): <\/strong>Here come the champs. They\u2019ve won four straight games. When you have a pitching rotation like theirs, winning streaks can be common.<\/p>\n

11. (24) Detroit Tigers (19-18): <\/strong>Unbeaten Max Scherzer has formed one of baseball\u2019s best one-two pitching punches with Justin \u201cno-hit\u201d Verlander.<\/p>\n

12. (13) Oakland Athletics (19-18): <\/strong>I\u2019ll be the first to admit that I didn\u2019t expect Trevor Cahill to repeat last year\u2019s success, let alone exceed it, which he has so far. \"BetOnline\"<\/a><\/p>\n

13. (5) Colorado Rockies (19-15): <\/strong>They\u2019ve lost seven of 10. Now\u2019s the time for Ubaldo Jimenez and Carlos Gonzalez to get hot.<\/p>\n

14. (9) Boston Red Sox (17-19): <\/strong>\u201cSlow-starting\u201d Adrian Gonzalez is now tied for the American League lead in RBI. That monster season will be there when 2011 is up.<\/p>\n

15. (12) Texas Rangers (19-18): <\/strong>Where would they be had they traded away the disgruntled Michael Young?<\/p>\n

16. (8) Kansas City Royals (18-17): <\/strong>How far can Hosmer Mania take them? It\u2019s early but the kid looks like he belongs in the majors.<\/p>\n

17. (18) Pittsburgh Pirates (18-18): <\/strong>James McDonald could be their most promising pitcher since a young Oliver Perez.<\/p>\n

18. (22) Washington Nationals (17-18): <\/strong>They deserve credit for staying afloat without Ryan Zimmerman and Stephen Strasburg.<\/p>\n

19. Milwaukee Brewers: <\/strong>Yovani Gallardo and Zack Greinke both threw gems over the last week. A sign of better times ahead for the Brew Crew?<\/p>\n

20. (21) New York Mets (16-20): <\/strong>They have to hope Ike Davis\u2019 injury isn\u2019t serious. He\u2019s been their best player \u2013 and one of the NL\u2019s best.<\/p>\n
