Even though he struggled in Game 1 against Boston, allowing five goals on 23 shots Saturday, Brian Boucher will get the nod in goal again for the Philadelphia Flyers tonight. His 4-2 record and 2.79 goals against average in the 2010-11 playoffs are better than what alternatives Michael Leighton (0-1, 3.44) and Sergei Bobrovsky (0-1, 3.84) have to offer.<\/p>\n

It turns out the Sacramento Kings aren\u2019t changing homes just yet. The Maloof family, which owns the team, has given the City of Sacramento one year to find the financing for a new arena. If it doesn\u2019t, the team will move. There had been strong suggestions that the Kings were moving to Anaheim for the 2011-12 season.<\/p>\n

The Chicago Bulls\u2019 Tom Thibodeau has been named the NBA\u2019s Coach of the Year. In his first season as head coach, he took Chicago to a league-best 62-20 record. It was Chicago\u2019s first 60-win season since the Michael Jordan years. The Bulls\u2019 accomplishments in the regular season were particularly impressive considering that Joakim Noah and Carlos Boozer both missed significant time with injuries.<\/p>\n

Kenyon Martin is set to test the NBA\u2019s free-agent waters. He suggested to the Denver Post <\/em>that he may not return to the Denver Nuggets next season. \u201cBeing part of a winning team is more important than starting,\u201d he said. The 33-year-old has had microfracture surgery on both knees and has missed a whopping 203 games over his last seven years with Denver.<\/p>\n

MLB news: David Freese needs surgery for broken hand; Andy Pettitte to return in 2012? Andre Ethier\u2019s hit streak continues<\/strong><\/p>\n

St. Louis Cardinals third baseman David Freese just can\u2019t catch a break \u2013 or can\u2019t stop catching breaks. He\u2019ll miss at least a month because of surgery to repair a broken bone in his left hand. Freese took a pitch on the hand from Atlanta\u2019s Scott Linebrink in the sixth inning of Sunday\u2019s game. He was betting .356 with 14 RBI before the injury. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Could the Rajun Cajun Andy Pettitte make a comeback in 2012? The big lefthander is sitting out 2011 but has reportedly told his friends that he may want to pitch next season. Pettitte, the majors\u2019 all-time playoff wins leader, turned down a one-year, $12-million offer from the Yankees this year because he said he lost the \u201chunger\u201d and \u201cdrive\u201d to compete.<\/p>\n

Andre Ethier\u2019s hit streak lives on. The Dodgers outfielder singled off San Diego\u2019s Dustin Moseley in the seventh inning yesterday to extend his run to 27 games.<\/p>\n

NFL news: R.W. McQuarters shot by masked man; Ravens still furious with Bears over botched trade<\/strong><\/p>\n

Former NFL cornerback R.W. McQuarters was shot in the back by a masked assailant on Saturday night. The ex-first-rounder was hit through the driver-side window of his vehicle and managed to drive himself to the hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening.<\/p>\n

The Chicago Bears and especially general manager Jerry Angelo are in hot water over a botched draft-day trade with the Baltimore Ravens. They reportedly agreed to trade the Ravens the 29th<\/sup> pick in the draft plus a fourth-rounder for Baltimore\u2019s 26th<\/sup> pick. However, Angelo never called in the deal and never told the Ravens. Time expired on the clock and the Ravens had to pick at No. 26.<\/p>\n

Baltimore believes it should be compensated with the fourth-round pick, which Chicago later traded to Washington to move up in the second round. Commissioner Roger Goodell has asked Chicago to give Baltimore a pick; the Bears haven\u2019t yet complied.<\/p>\n
