San Jose was clearly the better team on Friday night and now is time for the Wings to respond.<\/p>\n<p>Things certainly could have been worse for the Detroit Red Wings in Game 1 of the series \u2013 their injured stars came back and looked good and their goaltender was terrific. The difference in the game was the penalties \u2013 Detroit was shorthanded an uncharacteristic seven times in Game 1 to only four times for the San Jose Sharks.<\/p>\n<p>Jimmy Howard has given Wings fans reason for optimism going into game 2. Against Los Angeles the Sharks directed a lot of rubber against Jonathan Quick but got shut out once and held to two goals or under in three of the six games.  Still Joe Thornton, Joe Pavelski and the rest of the San Jose Joes looked pretty good but know that they will face a better all around Wings on Sunday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>As for Antti Niemi, he looked good but he didn\u2019t have to look great. His team played very well around him and maybe made him look better than he actually was.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NHL Betting Trends:<\/strong><br \/>\nOver is 9-1 in DET last 10 vs. Western Conference.<br \/>\nOver is 9-3 in DET last 12 Sun. games.<br \/>\nSJ are 8-1 in their last 9 vs. Central.<br \/>\nOver is 9-3-2 in SJ last 14 games following a win.<br \/>\nSJ are 23-8 in their last 31 games following a win.<br \/>\nOver is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Betting Prediction:<\/strong> San Jose has now won nine of the last eleven meetings between the two teams.<\/p>\n<p>We all knew that the Wings would come out a bit flat in Game 1 and that\u2019s what happened. They were a step slow on Friday but should be up to speed on Sunday afternoon. Zetterberg and Franzen will be better as will the whole team.
