Los Angeles Angels (7-5)<\/strong>

Say what you want about the back of the Los Angeles Angels rotation but the guys at the top are really pulling their weight \u2013 none more than Jered Weaver. Detractors thought his major-league-leading strikeout total of 2010 was an anomaly but it looks like anything but so far this season. After striking out 15 Blue Jays in 7.2 innings on April 10, Weaver now has 27 punch-outs in 20.2 innings. The missed bats have come at the cost of efficiency, though; opponents are hitting .130 off Weaver but he has nine walks already.<\/p>\n

Weaver could be in line for a fourth straight win if Bobby Abreu and Howie Kendrick continue their torrid play. Abreu is batting .357 with 14 walks already and Kendrick has four homers. If only Vernon Wells could up that .102 average. \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Chicago White Sox (7-5)<\/strong>
\nPhi Humber (1-0, 3.37)<\/p>\n

The Chicago White Sox have to be kicking themselves. How good would their record be this year if their bullpen had been remotely competent? Matt Thornton already has four blown saves. The Pale Hose are averaging 6.08 runs per game, second in the majors. Gordon Beckham, Paul Konerko, Carlos Quentin \u2013 you name the Chicago player and he\u2019s hitting the ball hard early this season. Adam Dunn is also back from his appendectomy.<\/p>\n

Every White Sox starter has also given his team a chance to win \u2013 and that includes Phil Humber. The former first-round pick made a start last week after two relief appearances \u2013 and pitched six innings of one-run ball.<\/p>\n

The numbers suggest that Weaver should continue his dominance on Friday. He\u2019s 4-2 with a 1.70 ERA and 48 strikeouts over 47 innings in his career. However, he has eight walks over those 47 innings compared to nine in 20 innings this season. Weaver seems to be \u201cthrowing\u201d more than pitching, going for the strikeouts and not always hitting the plate. \u00a0He could put too many guys on base against a powerful lineup. I think the White Sox\u2019s red-hot bats will get to Weaver for a change.<\/p>\n
